M16A1: Former standard US Service Rifle. The M16A1 fired full automatic and semiautomatic fire. The M16A1 used a 5.56mm (.223 cal.) round in 20- or 30-round magazines. There were a number of problems encountered during initial fielding, but better training, preventive maintenance, several design changes, and revised ammunition, resulted in the weapon that was the standard issue rifle of the U.S. Military. Can be fitted with an M203 Grenade Launcher. (Carried by Guards and Air Policemen in the episode "1969". Also seen by troops outside during the time-dilation episode... What was that? And in the stock outside footage of Cheyenne Mountain where the SF's are walking toward the "cave")

M16A2/M16A4: Standard US Service Rifle. It is a lightweight, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed, shoulder- or hip-fired weapon designed for either 3-round bursts or semi-automatic fire through the use of a selector. It is an improved version of the M16A1. The M16A2 incorporates improvements in sight, pistol grip, stock. It has an improved muzzle compensator, three-round burst control, and a heavier barrel (only forward of the front sight), which can use the M855 improved NATO SS109 5.56mm ammunition, which is also fired by the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon System (SAWS). The M16A4, soon to be replacing many M16A2's, are essentially the same except the carrying handle may be removed and an optic installed (Middle picture). Bottom picture shows an M16A4 fitted with an AN/PNVS-4 Night Vision Sight, a vertical foregrip, the Knight Armaments' Rail Adapter System (M5), and an AN/PEQ-2 Infrared Targeting Illumination System (M16A2 is seen carried by Security Forces personnel guarding the Alpha site in Allegience.)

Standardized carrying handle allows a variety of sight mounts to be installed. M16A3's and M16A4's can remove the rear carrying handle/rear sights (using 2 thumb nuts) to reveal a standard-sized Picatinny rail able to accommodate almost any sight system. Also, sighting systems can be fitted to a variety of rail adabtor systems that can replace the forearm.
Notes: | The M16A2 is the current base model. The M16A4 is the same with a removeable carrying handle. The M16A3 is the (Navy's) M16A4 variant that can fire automatically. Can be fitted with a standard M203 or M203A1 (that's why the same M16A1 barrel contour under the handguard is for.). Chamber pressure: 52,000 psi. Maximum Effective Range: (Individual or point/area): 550m/800m. Maximum Range: 3534m. |
M18A1 Claymore Mine: This is a command detonated directional mine using a hand-held electrical generator (squeezed to produce detonation), 100ft electrical wire, and an electric blasting cap, all packaged into a cloth bandoleer (Also labeled with step-by-step instructions). The claymore can also be used with any standard blasting cap and fuzing assembly, including tripwires. The packaged mine weighs 3.5 pounds, has a plastic exterior, and contains 1.5 pounds of C4 with 700 steel ball bearings. The mine cuts a swath in a 60-degree arc 50m deep but can cause casualties out to 250m to the front and 16m to the rear of the mine. These, in SGC use, can be fitted with a blasting cap that has a radio reciever and it's own power source to allow the mine to be detonated using a remote control. (Seen in Thor's Chariot.")
M24 Sniper Weapon System: The M24 Sniper Weapon System is a bolt-action sniper rifle used by the U.S. Army, replacing the semi-automatic M21. As in the U.S. Marine Corps M40A1, the M24 uses the Remington 700 receiver group which has been modified to use the .300 (7.62mm) Winchester Magnum(?) round. (This is the primary difference: The M24 uses a long action to allow use of the .300 Win Mag while the M40 is a short length action.) The stock is made of a composite of Kevlar, graphite and fiberglass. The synthetic stock also features an aluminum bedding block and adjustable butt plate. A detachable bipod can be attached to the stock's fore-end. The M24 is equipped with a 10X fixed Leupold M3 Ultra telescope. (Not positively seen in Stargate SG-1).

Notes: | The stock is fiberglass and adjustable in length with an adjustable cheek pad. Chamber pressure: 50,000psi. Maximum Effective Range: 800m. |
XM25 Designated Marksman Rifle/Sniper Support Weapon System: Another candidate for the DMR contract, the others being the SR25 and the MSG90A1. Not intended to replace the M24 or M40-series weapons, this rifle is instead intended as a support weapon for it when a higher rate-of-fire is needed and as a weapon between the M16A2 and .50 caliber for use by EOD technicians in disposing of certain types of munitions. Basically an updated and upgraded M14/M21. The changes are National Match grade components (barrel, trigger, reciever, gas system, etc.), an adjustable McMillan stock, Advanced Scope Mounting System, and a variety of scopes. Originally developed for the 10th Special Forces Group before becoming a Joint project to include the SEAL's. Some also use a Harris bipod and a pistol gripped stock with an adjustable length and cheek rest. (Not seen in Stargate SG-1).

M40A1 and M40A3 Sniper Rifle: The M40A1 Sniper Rifle is a bolt-action sniper rifle used by the U.S. Marine Corps. The M40A1 uses the Remington 700 receiver group which has been heavily modified. The McMillan stock is made of a composite of fiberglass. The scope is a special 10 power Unertl sniper scope. It uses a modified Winchester Model 70 floorplate and trigger guard. Epoxy bedded. When fired with Match Grade ammunition, this rifle shoots sub-MOA groups. The M40A3 differs in having an attached bipod (a Marine first), a stock with an adjustable cheek pad and length, and some other minor changes. (Not positively seen in Stargate SG-1).
Type: | Sniper rifle, bolt action. | Caliber: | 7.62x51mm M118LR Match grade ammunition. |

The stock is fiberglass and epoxy bedded to the action. The heavy barrel is a commercial competition-grade type. Chamber pressure: 50,000psi. Maximum Effective Range: 1000yds (914m). |
M60 Machinegun: General purpose machine gun used by Security Forces personnel on Patrol HMMWV's. It fires linked 7.62mm NATO (.308 Winchester) rounds at 550-600rpm. Weighs 23 pounds empty and is being (slowly) replaced by the M240B or M240G versions of the Belgian FN MAG. The barrel can be changed when hot. (Seen on vehicles outside Cheyenne Mountain.)
Type: | General purpose machinegun, gas operated using a rotating bolt and fires from an open bolt. | Caliber: | 7.62x51mm M80 |
Length, O/A: | 43.5" (1.1m) | Length, Bbl: | -- |
Weight, Empty: | 23bs (10.43kg) | Weight, Loaded: | --lbs (100 round belt) |
Capacity: | Belt fed. | Magazine: | 100 round disintegrating belts. A 100-round soft carrier can be attached under the feed mechanism. |
Modes of Fire: | Automatic only w/ 550rpm cyclic. | Muzzle Velocity: | 2800fps |
Safeties: | Sear blocking push-through safety.
Sights: | Post front non-adjustable. Ladder rear with notch adjustable for elevation, windage, and range (300m - 1100m). Can be fitted with an optic mount on feed cover.
Notes: | Has retractable bipod and a synthetic stock. Semi-bullpup design allows for a pretty compact and portable 7.62mm machinegun. This can be fired from the shoulder, if necessary. Barrel change is quick but requires the use of an asbestos heat-resistant mitten because the bipod is attached to the barrel and the carrying handle isn't. Also, the gas system is attached to the barrel. Barrels have no capability to be zeroed seperately and changing barrels alters the weapons zero. Gas system can be incorrectly reassembled. Also, the word is that nickels placed properly in the gas system boosts the cyclic rate. Feeds from the left. Maximum Range: 3725m Maximum Effective Range: 1100m It can be mounted to the M122 tripod. |
M60E3 Machinegun: Lightweight variant of the M60. Originally, a USMC Weapon, it is now being replaced/has been replaced by the M240G or the M249A1 of various types. The only people that still seem to have it are the Navy's SEAL's... It is about the lightest, most agile 7.62mm NATO Machinegun around. It has a quickchange barrel, a COG right over the feed path, and a compact length. However, it is temperamental about being kept clean... Some will be replaced by the MK 46 Mod 0 shown later. (Seen in use by the NID Containment Team in "Nightwalkers", also seen in the firefight in "Forever in a Day" and carried by SG-7 in the eppy where Daniel goes nuts from Machello's invention...)
Type: | General purpose machinegun, gas operated using a rotating bolt and fires from an open bolt. | Caliber: | 7.62x51mm M80 |
Length, O/A: | 42.4" (107.70cm) | Length, Bbl: | -- |
Weight, Empty: | 18.75bs (8.51kg) | Weight, Loaded: | --lbs (100 round belt) |
Capacity: | Belt fed. | Magazine: | 100 round disintegrating belts. A 100-round soft carrier can be attached under the feed mechanism. |
Modes of Fire: | Automatic only w/ 550rpm cyclic. | Muzzle Velocity: | 2800fps |
Safeties: | Ambidextrous sear blocking push-through safety.
Sights: | Post front. Ladder rear with notch adjustable for elevation, windage, and range (300m - 1100m). Can be fitted with an optic mount on feed cover.
Notes: | Has retractable reciever-mounted bipod, a synthetic stock, and a foreward pistol grip. Semi-bullpup design allows for a pretty compact and portable 7.62mm machinegun. This can be fired from the shoulder, if necessary. Barrel change is quick without a need for an asbestos heat-resistant mitten because the bipod is attached to the reciever and the carrying handle is now attached to the barrel. Also, the gas system is now attached to the reciever making the barrel assembly almost lightweight. The barrel can not (according to the USMC website) handle more than 200 rounds/minute without catastrophic failure and has even lower reliability than the original M60. Feeds from the left. Maximum Range: 3725m Maximum Effective Range: 1100m It can be mounted to the M122 tripod. |
M68 Close Combat Optic: The M68 sight is a reflex (non-telescopic) sight. It uses a red aiming reference (collimated dot) and is designated for the "two eyes open" method of sighting. The "two eyes open" method allows for quick acquisition of the target with a high hit probability. The M68 sight is designed for use with the M16 series rifle and M4 series carbine. Militarized/ruggedized, reflex collimator sight that weighs 9.6 ounces with MIL STD 1913 Interface and 13.9 ounces with M16A2 mount. It is 5" long. (Not positively seen in Stargate SG-1)
M79 Grenade Launcher: The M79 grenade launcher was designed to fire a 40mm grenade more accurately than when fired from a rifle grenade launcher. The secret to the success of the M79 was a high-low pressure system that allowed the propellant to develop a relatively high pressure in, a high-pressure chamber, before venting gases into a low pressure chamber in the grenade cartridge case. The M79 grenade launcher is a single-shot, break-open, breech-loading, shoulder-fired weapon. It has a protected fixed front sight and a rear leaf sight that is adjustable for windage. Capable of launching 40mm Grenades out to 400m. Replaced in service by M203 Grenade Launcher and made available to law enforcement agencies for riot control use. (Not seen in SG-1)
Type: | Grenade launcher, single shot, break open. | Caliber: | Low velocity 40x46mmR Grenade |
Length, O/A: | 28.78" | Length, Bbl: | 14" |

Capacity: | 1 Round | Magazine: | Single shot, manually loaded. |
Modes of Fire: | Single shot. | Muzzle Velocity: | 250fps |
Safeties: | Manual safety engaged by opening the breech. The projectiles themselves also contain safeties that keep the round from going off too close to the firer. The M552-series arms in 2.4m - 3m (used in some HE Rounds), the more common fuze (HE, HEDP, Jump-up Frag) arms in 14-27m.
Sights: | Fully adjustable fold-up ladder sight rear, adjustable for windage, elevation, and range. For close ranges (50-80m), the ladder is put in the down position and a second notch is used. Protected blade front.
Notes: | Aluminum barrel, wood stocks. Opening latch and safety on the top rear of the reciever. Trigger guard folds for use with mittens. Can be fitted with the M15 rifle grenade sight (looks a bit like a carpenter's level glass tube with a bubble) for indirect fire. Also can use a marked sling to estimate range for indirect fire. Minimum Safe Range (Combat/Training): 31m/130m. Maximum Effective Range: (Individual or point/area): 150m/350m. Maximum Range: 375m. |
M122 Lightweight Tripod: More stable mount that can be also fitted with a Traversing and Elevation Mechanism (shown) for precision fire by machineguns. This model is primarily used with the M60-series, but, with the right pintle, can be used with the M249A1 SAW or M240-series (M122A1 w/ soft mount adapter). Lightened variant of the M2 Tripod used with the World War I and II era M1919 Browning Machineguns (18.75 lbs, steel construction). Weighs 15lbs (6.8kg), is 27" (68.6cm) long folded, and 14" (35.6cm) high. (Not seen in SG-1)
M136 "AT4" Antitank Weapon: The M136 AT4 is a medium single-shot antiarmor weapon currently used by the United States military. It replaced the M72 LAW (Light Antitank Weapon) in the late 1980s.The AT4 fires an unguided, fin-stabilized 84mm rocket with a high explosive anti armor warhead. Once used, it's discarded. It weighs 14.8 pounds and has a maximum effective range of 300m. It also has the instructions for use on the side (Used by Carter in "Forever in a Day")

Guidance: | None. |
Terminal Effects: | Penetrates 15"+ RHA | Speed: | 950fps (290mps) at the muzzle. |
Safeties: | Arms at 10m. | ||
Sights: | Front blade center post w/ left and right lead posts. Rear sight w/ range setting knob 100m-200m and 2mm and 7mm peep.
Notes: | Backblast: 60m. |
M203 Grenade Launcher: The M203 grenade launcher is a single-shot weapon designed for use with the M16 series rifle and fires a 40mm grenade. The M203A1 grenade launcher is a single-shot weapon designed for use with the M4 series carbine and also fires a 40mm grenade. They have a leaf sight (mounted to the front handguard) and/or a quadrant sight (mounted to the carrying handle). (Note: the M203's appearing in Stargate SG-1 seem to be derivatives of the Canadian M203A1 which mounts differently…and could be mounted to a GAU-5A/A…unlike the standard M203 or American M203A1 which can only be mounted to full-sized M16A1/A2/A4 or M4 Carbine… without modification to the weapons.)
Type: | Grenade launcher, single shot, slide open, attached to the M16-series rifle. | Caliber: | Low velocity 40x46mmR Grenade |

Sights: | Quadrant sight that attaches to the M16-series carrying handle: Square Post front adjustable for elevation, apperture rear adjustable for windage and the bar holding them adjusts up and down to act as a Bullet Drop Compensator (BDC) for firing from 50m to 400m (increments of 25m). Leaf sight attached to handguard (or a Picatinny version) flips up for firing upto 250m (increments of 50m) in conjunction with the rifle's front sight. It can be zeroed for windage and elevation. Sight Radius (Quadrant/Leaf): 129mm/136mm.
Notes: | Minimum Safe Range (Combat/Training): 31m/130m. Maximum Effective Range: (Individual or point/area): 150m/350m. Maximum Range: 400m. |
M203 PI (Product Improved): This is a version of the M203 designed to be fired without the M16. Functionally, it is the same as the rifle-mounted version. It is a single-shot weapon that is loaded by pressing the catch over the ribbed part of the barrel/handgrip (visible in the picture) and sliding the barrel forward. A 40mm grenade is inserted and the barrel slid back to lock it. The tab in the front of the trigger guard is the safety (push back to block the trigger for safe). (Jack uses a version very similar to this, except with a longer barrel and a side-folding wire stock, in "Fifth Man").
M203A1 (Diemaco, Canadian): This is a version of the M203 designed to be more easily attached to or removed from M16-variant weapons. It uses a shorter barrel and a different, lower-slung mount. (This may be what "Pierce" uses on his M4 (C8?) in allegience and possibly what's used in earlier seasons on the GAU-5A/A's...).
Type: | Grenade launcher, single shot, slide open, attached to the M16-series rifle or other compatible weapons. | Caliber: | Low velocity 40x46mmR Grenade |

M240G Medium Machinegun: Medium machine gun that replaced the M60-series in the Marine inventory. These are reconditioned M240's off surplus M60 and M1 tanks. These also were the starting point for the M240B above. (Not seen in SG-1, Real World.)
M249A1 Squad Automatic Weapon (Para model and Special Purpose Weapon Variants): The Para model is a shortened variant of the standard SAW fitted with a shorter barrel (usable on the full-size weapon) and a collapsing stock that extends to full length and rotates to a vertical configuration. It is shown here with a canvas 100-rd belt carrier fitted in lieu of the standard 200-rd belt box (also available). It can be fired with a standard M16 30-round magazine…though only in an emergency because it tends to double feed and jam. The SPW variant is similar, wxcept fitted with an integral rail mount on the reciever, three rails in lieu of the front handguards, no bipod, and also no carrying handle. Compare to the later MK 46 Mod 0. (Kowalski, in his many forms, prefers this weapon and it is also in use by the SGC's Marine contingent. The SPW Variant, fitted with what appears to be a night vision optic or possibly thermal optic and a small tactical light, is used by COL O'Neill in "Allegience" Currently in use with US Army Rangers and other US Military Special Operations Forces) (For comparison, a standard M249A1 is also shown below)

M1911A1: The M1911A1 model recoil operated semi-automatic adopted in 1926 as an improvement on the original M1911, was the standard personal defense weapon carried by officers and team leaders of all services during World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Production was ended in 1945. The M1911 is very reliable, and the weapon of choice for use in close quarters by professionals. It was standard issue up until 1984, when it began to be replaced by the more modern M9 Berretta. Versions and variants are still being used by some special operators (USAF PAra-Rescuemen, US Army SFOD-D "Delta Force", USMC Force Recon and Marine Expeditionary Units (Special Operations Capable) to name a few). The M1911A1 .45 cal. pistol is a magazine-fed semi-automatic recoil-operated single-action hand gun. It is .45 cal. with a seven-round magazine. It fires one round each time the trigger is squeezed, once the hammer is cocked by prior action of the slide or thumb. This design is referred to as "single-action". The thumb safety may only be activated once the pistol is cocked. (Used by USAF Guards and Lieutenant George Hammond in 1969.)

Micro-Uzi: Compact 9mm submachinegun manufactured in Israel. Also available as a semi-automatic only pistol without a folding stock. Can use 20, 25, and 32 round magazines. (Carried by NID personnel with stock removed and a strap installed to carry it under a jacket. Seen in "Chain Reaction.")
MK23 Mod 0 OHWS: "Offensive Handgun Weapon System"... A big honkin' horse pistol. After the adoption of the M9 Berretta in 9mm, it was determined that, for some special operation missions, a 9mm lacked the stopping power, the ability to be effectively suppressed to the degree needed, and was simply too fragile. This pistol by Heckler and Koch does all of these... in .45 ACP. This is a big pistol, it's designed to be very accurate, very reliable, and almost indestructable. It can be fitted with a snap-on sound suppressor and a LAM ("Laser Aiming Module") as seen in the second picture. The LAM contains a bright white aiming/ID light, an IR light, a visible laser and an IR laser visible only through NOD's (Night Observation Devices or Night Vision Goggles.) Weighs 1.21kg/2lb10oz empty... 1.92kg empty with suppressor and LAM empty. (Not seen, in use by USAF Special Operations personnel.)
MK 46 Mod 0: Yet another M249A1 variant. Similar to the SPW, this light machinegun is not fitted with the collapsing stock and is not fitted to fire M16 magazines. The barrel is a lightweight, ultra-short version that can also be fitted with a sound suppressor. It has an additional, top, rail useful for long-eye-relief close combat optics, a reciever rail for a more conventional optic placement, and is fitted with a bipod. Accomodates the lightweight cloth belt carrier and the standard 200-round belt box. Proofed against salt water and has better reliability than the other variants. (Not seen in Stargate SG-1. Real world.)

Barrel change is quick and easy (each barrel is zeroed seperately), but the carrying handle is deleted. Feeds from the left. Has no mounting lugs for tripod or vehicle use. Can not use M16 Magazines. Can be fitted with the standard sound supressor used on Navy M4 Carbines. Barrel can be fluted (for weight reduction) or standard contour. This weapon is highly resistant to corrosion. PM Makarov: Standard Russian issue pistol. A semi-automatic, double-action pistol similar to the M9 Berretta in operation except the safety/decock functions when pushed up and the magazine release is in the butt (bottom of the grip). This pistol is roughly at the extreme limit of a "pocket pistol" and is issued to crew-served weapon crewmen, drivers, senior officers, aviators, law enforcement personnel, and others who have a personal defense requirement and for which a submachinegun would be innappropriate for. It uses an 8-round single column magazine with two generally issued (numbered "1" and "2") for each pistol. Ammunition comes packed 16/small cardboard box. The round (9mm Makarov or 9 x 18mm Makarov) bridges the gap between 9mm Parabellum (9 x 19mm NATO) and the less powerful 9mm Kurz/.380 ACP (9 x 17mm) (a common European police round). In an emergency, the .380 can be fired in a Makarov with significant loss to the weapon's usually excellent accuracy. The reverse is not true and can be very dangerous. (Not positively seen in Stargate SG-1, though the Holsters worn by the Russian SG-Team in "The Tomb" are for this pistol...)
Type: | Pistol, recoil operated, direct blowback. | Caliber: | 9x18mm Makarov or (export) .380 ACP/9x17mm Kurz |

RPK-74: This is the current issue Russian squad automatic, equivalent to the M249. It replaced the AKM-variant RPK in Russian service beginning in 1980. It uses the AK74's magazines of 30-round laminated steel and plastic design, often found in orangish-brown colors, or a larger 40-round model. Unlike most Western designs, the AK-series of weapons use a safety/selector that moves from "Safe" to "Automatic" and then "Semi-automatic". It also does this with a relatively loud mechanical noise called "AK-clack"... It uses a smaller muzzle brake than the rifle and a foldable bipod. The weapon's sights are not intended to be zeroed in the field and require a special tool to adjust, although the rear sight is adjustable for range. (Not seen so far.)
Type: | Squad Automatic, gas operated w/ rotating bolt. | Caliber: | 5.45x39mm |
