The reliable big sister: Although she's quite careless, her outgoing, atheletic, confidence, optimistic, understanding, caring, forgiving and all the charismatic qualities that made her one of the most reliable, admirable and trust-worthy big-sister in the party. Her mother-like qualities shelter and protect those around her. She also has very strong sense of Justice, believe in no tolerance for wrong-doings yet very forgiving for human's weakness. She also stood against her chief editor who put magaizne sales as first priority. The origin of all trouble: When she was 14, she met a group of 4 children who role-played the Masked Rangers (Tatsuya, Jun, Eikichi & Lisa). The children welcomed her to join and loved this big sister, who taught them how to summon Persona. However when Maya revealed that her family had to move, Eikichi & Lisa locked her inside Araya Temple. At the same time, the mentally unstable Sutou Tatsuya set the fire on Araya Temple for his "Aztec rituals". Maya summoned Persona barely escape the fire and saved Tatsuya, who tried to unlock the door for her. Unfortunately her right chest was seriously burned. Sutou called her a "witch" after witnessing her power. After barely survived, she developed phobia of fire and repressed all the memories related to this incident. One of the kids, Jun, mistakenly believed that Maya was killed in the fire, was deeply traumatized by this incident and..... Precious item: A rabbit doll gave by her father as lucky charm "Let's Positive Thinking!" Maya's motto. Personal Comment:I always felt she seems a little out of place among the final party, because she's so "old" ^^;; among the other 4 teenager, probably that's why she's the one who did most talking and decision making. Compare to other characters, Maya seems a little too "natural" feel, so her character wasn't as stand out as others...just my feeling as I tried hard to think what can be written about her~~ how un-outstanding she is! I was surprise that she's the actual Heroine of the story, not Lisa...a little disappointing ^^;;
