The Prez's Dragon, Beldin

This is Beldin, I adopted him on 7/10/98 from the Adopt-A-Dragon Foundation. You can find a link to ADF at the bottom of this page. He tends to look like the disagreeable sort, and his manners and language can be atrocious at times, But he's very much like his name sake. Beldin is a truly lovable and caring dragon who likes to look out for all his "children". He decided to take up residence here so he can keep an eye on us gamers, Make sure we don't get carried away with that "evil dragon, good knight" cliche, and keep us out of trouble. So enjoy your stay at my MaGiK gaming site, if you end up in trouble, Beldin's here to help....Just becareful....Beldin does tend to frolic occasionally when he thinks no one is looking (esp. with a young dragon named Gleep).... but Most of all: Don't annoy the dragon!! He thinks of himself as my sworn bodyguard, but should he get hurt....I can be much more dangerous...

I first became involved in Master's Gaming Konnection back in my college freshman year.... 1993!! If someone told me that I'd end up being President for two years running, I may have had the chance to run then. Now, it is far far to late!!

I hear that evil laughter Mr. Calkin!!!

I had heard of role-playing from my friend Aaron. He played a "play by mail" AD&D game. Living in a small town, I had no first hand experience of Rpging. I heard mixed rumors on the subject: my mother fervantly believing role-playing is evil and that kids get carried away by it. Looking back I have some suspicians of some of some upperclassmen and I'm looking forward to my five year reunion to see who has "turned gamer" out of my classmates.

I have a few suspicians. *grin*

Anyway, I had a hard time believing that role-playing could be that evil if Aaron's mom knowingly had no problem with Aaron playing. They are a very devout Mormon family. If you know how strict Mormons can be in keeping down exposure to "undesirable" material, then you get the idea. So, thus verily, I asked Aaron all about it!

Well! The first thing he told me was that he was positive that I'd be great at and really enjoy it. I had to try it first thing when I got to college!

Yes, I said, but What is it???

Well, come to find out... after finally dragging it out of a grinning Aaron...

I was already Role-Playing!
You see, back in high school, I had dreams of becoming an aspiring Authoress, or a Noble Prize Winning Physicist, or The Ferret Queen..... wait, I didn't know about ferrets back then... nevermind.
Back to the Subject at hand: I tended to write stories. Long stories. Stories that never got finished.... The never getting finished got to me after awhile. You see I'd start them all excited and inspired, then I'd just get lazy. There was no real reason for me to be writing them. My mother insisted I was wasting my time. Time that could be better spent doing something else, .... like cleaning my room. But I enjoyed writing, and my room never did get clean. Even better, I came up with a solution for my lethagy! If I made my friends characters in the story, then they would ask me if I had written anymore, and want to see what happened to them. Me, being a "people person" would want to have something for them to read, and thus get off my tuff and do some writing instead of watching the ka-zillionth rerun of Underdog. Actually, I had started doing these types of stories back in middle school. I was going through a rough time: parents divorcing, braces, nobody likes me, the whole speel. Well, this was a way to for me to get attention and approval from my classmates. It worked too. Smart ain't I?

I might consider posting some of the stories on my page if anyone really wants to read them.

Anyway, I'm off the track again. What I was effectively doing was running a Role Playing game on paper! I wrote the setting and what happened and my friends told me what they would do. I'd then go and write this into the story. Vwa La. An RPG!
