Year 5643281 u.d. The planet is Akuji. Natural resources have been drained from the earth's flesh and the six nations in existance are at constant war with one other in an effort to conquer in their own selfish name. Violence and greed rules over these trends, each country seeking to preserve his own establishment by eliminating the threat of others. Yet, it is the common citizen who suffers the most, overlooked and exploited by their government for the rich man's cause. The center of the West Newport Human Republic remains a haven for those looked over by those with power. They are the elite. Everybody else, the outsiders, are considered to be little more than trash.
Some say the nuclear cataclysm of time's past was the ugliest solidification of man's hatred, but many could easily argue that the present is far worse.
War has become streamlined. Entire armies consist of robot units that possess the same deductive thinking and reflexes as human beings, but with none of their weaknesses. They are equipped with nightmarish weapons designed to level battalions in one blow, small armored tanks that have designed to fight the humans' battle for them. This has been possible through the corazon chip, a technology used to develop the capacity for thought and emotion in an android. However, the world's nations have no interest in the potential people that they create. Most units are cut off from further development once the stage of optimal battlefield reflexes and thought capacity have been reached. Those that manage to become something more are executed. There is no room for souls in war...
One day, Edge, a prototype soldier of the Republic, wakes up on the outside. He is free of his shackles, cut free from the bonds of his master. However, he understands nothing of the cruel, new world that he steps out into. He must find his place or be consumed by the same violence that would have filled his life as a soldier.
But he is not alone...
"そして、最後に・・・"
“There's no way to be free from the loneliness
It took so long for me to notice
But now I’m on my way to find my life
Maybe this day
Maybe tomorrow...”
