Umm...I guess I don't really have an excuse this time for my slow update
after that cliffhanger. But I did manage to finish up 'Not all Fun and
Games', which will now allow more 'Red Card' updates! *smiles nervously* Oh
yea, Inu/Kag fluff should come soon enough, and thanks again to all who
reviewed, you don't know how much your encouragement mean to me!

Unexpected Visit - Chapter 9 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kagome squeezed her eyes shut tightly, holding back the tears that were
about to escape. She could barely make out her saviour from behind her
drenched lashes...the silver hair...the golden eyes...could it be Inuyasha?
"Sesshoumaru! What the fuck are you doing?!" Screamed someone, who after a
second Kagome recognised as who else but Inuyasha.
Quickly wiping across her eyes, Kagome blinked twice, and nearly stuttered.
'Sesshoumaru...saved me? But why...?' For some reason she couldn't bring
herself to speak, her throat was surprisingly dry.
Sesshoumaru glanced in Inuyasha's direction, ignoring the gasps of the
college student body, still holding the frozen Kagome in his arms.
"Inuyasha...give it a rest already."
From where she was, Kagome could almost make out the veins popping out of
Inuyasha's neck. He growled lightly, and stared right into the eyes of
Kagome. "Don't tell me...you've got a thing for this welfare case?"
Kagome felt her face go hot, and was afraid of making eye contact with
Kagura. How would she react to this? Even worse...how would Sesshoumaru
react to this question?
Her heart sped to an unimaginable pace when Sesshoumaru did not respond to
the question. 'No way...he's not denying it...'
Inuyasha was steaming now, and it wasn't difficult to tell. He was making
fists with both hands...and Kagome could see he was stuttering slightly.
Finally, he yelled out, "Are you prepared for the consequences?"
Inuyasha clumsily swung his arm into the air. "You don't mind getting
kicked out of school?"
Everyone just stood there, wide-eyed and silent. Here was Inuyasha, the
leader of Y4, threatening to expel another member of the group.
Suddenly, with a jerk, Inuyasha violently gripped Kagome's calves, and
tugged while screaming, "Let go! How long are you planning to hold onto
her?"
The result was Sesshoumaru hanging onto her arms, and Inuyasha grabbing her
legs. Her body was just dangling in the air. It didn't exactly help when
both sides started a tug-o-war contest.
Kagome screeched lightly at the pain in her stomach, and that was when
Sesshoumaru spoke. "Inuyasha, she'll rip."
"SHUT UP!" He retorted in a shout, "If you think so, why don't you let go?"
Having more than enough, Kagome swallowed and shrieked at the top of her
lungs, "THAT HURTS! Let me go you retards!"
Then instantaneously, all hands loosened, sending Kagome crashing into the
floor with a loud thud. Expecting an apology, she glanced up to see both
men glaring at each other coldly.
Inuyasha smirked and pointed one finger at Sesshoumaru. "Listen,
Sesshoumaru. This is the end of our friendship. I don't even want to talk
to you for the time being." Snapping around, Inuyasha yelled. "Miroku!
Kouga! We're going, NOW!"
Miroku just sat there, puzzled. "What do you mean we're leaving? Hey, wait
a minute!" Hopping up and turning once to look at Sesshoumaru with
sympathy, the other two chased after their fuming leader.
Kagome had an eerie gut feeling just then as she watched the threesome
storm out of the cafeteria. 'Oh no...'
"I don't believe it!"
"The Y4 have split up!"
Sesshoumaru just stood there, not saying a word. Seconds later, he spun
around and walked out another door without a second glance.
Not knowing what to do or say, Kagome couldn't help but feel hurt at the
suspecting stares of the older students.
When she looked up, Kagura paced over to her sprawled on the floor and bent
down beside her. "Let's go to the lavatory, we have to do something about
all that dirt."
Nodding without question, Kagome picked herself up and followed the
extremely tall woman into the restroom. "They're not really bad people,"
Kagura exclaimed, rinsing a cloth in the polished sink. "They just overdo
it sometimes."
The entire time, Kagome couldn't help but feel a little jealous at this
perfect woman standing in front of her. Her long eyelashes, her expensive
perfume scent, and her unblemished face...she was like a whole different
species.
Kagura squeezed the cloth in her hands once she turned off the tap. Handing
a damp handkerchief to Kagome, she smiled. "Here, use this to wipe your
face."
'A-a Chanel hankerchief!' Almost afraid to touch it, Kagome accepted it
anyways because it was likely her only chance to use one. She was busy
scrubbing away at the dirt chunks on her face when Kagura said, "About
Sesshoumaru..."
Kagome stopped her wiping and looked up at her. Kagura continued, "That was
the first time I've seen him get so emotional over a person...I wonder if
he likes you."
"What?!" Kagome hollered, shaking her hands in front of her face in
defence. "No way! That's impossible! To compare you and me...why, that
would be like comparing a diamond to a pebble! The one Sesshoumaru likes is
you!"
She realised she must have been babbling and blushing at the same time, and
almost fell over at Kagura's reply.
"I suppose you're right." She paused and pressed a manicured finger to her
chin. "But somehow...I get the feeling he might separate from me someday."
Kagome had no response. Who was she anyways to give her advice? Kagura
smiled and took the handkerchief from Kagome's hands. "Look, your face is
still so dirty." She brought the cloth to Kagome face and started to smudge
it. "A woman must always stay beautiful, you never know what opportunities
may arise."
After her little conversation with Kagome, she lent her a sweat suit and
left. 'As I thought, our worlds are completely different. But she's not a
bad person...a hell of a lot better than Kikyou, Yura, and the rest of the
idiot girls in this school.'
Sighing, she pushed open the large doors and was about to make her way down
the staircase when she caught sight of Sesshoumaru slightly ahead of her.
'He's here!'
"Um...excuse me." She called out quietly, and could feel her heartbeat
pound like crazy when he turned around to face her.
"Huh?"
'Why did you save me? To the point of sacrificing yourself? Why?' She
desperately wanted to ask, but decided to keep that to herself.
"Err...nothing! Never mind..."
He turned back around and continued to ascend the staircase. Kagome
couldn't help but remember his strong arms lifting her up easily, and his
comforting scent when she watched him walk out of her view.
Making her way back towards the high school section of Wakashu, Kagome
brought a hand to her forehead and realised she must have been running a
bit too much, it was practically on fire.
Luckily for her, nobody attacked her on the way back. Kagome was about to
retreat when she heard fast footsteps heading her way down the high school
hallway, but calmed down when she saw Hojo's face.
"Hey! Kagome!"
Kagome's eyes popped wide open. Was he wearing...a pot on his head? "Hojo-
kun, what are you wearing?" She breathed out with heavy pants.
Hojo chuckled. "Looks just like combat gear, huh, Kagome? With this, I'll
be fine no matter what they throw at me! Anyways, what happened before was
really thrilling and suspenseful, and I've never been chased by a crowd of
people before, it was actually kinda fun!"
'I think I underestimated this guy...' Kagome thought.
"Anyhow," he continued, "You're not going to Hawaii for summer school,
right?"
"Can't go would be more accurate."
"Well...in that case..." He started, stuttering as he talked. "Would you
like to come to Otami with me? My family has a summer home there!"
"Wow..." Kagome muttered, feeling a little woozy. "Otami...summer home..."
"Leave it to me!" Looking over at Kagome, his smile faded. "Hey, Kagome,
your face looks kinda red."
"I do feel a little dizzy..." She replied, barely making out his frame
anymore. Now it looked like there were four Hojos, and that was enough to
make anyone sick.
All of a sudden, her whole body gave out and she crumbled to the floor.
'It's no good, I can't hold on...'
The last thing she heard before unconsciousness took over her was Hojo
screaming something that sounded like, "Kagome? Are you okay? Don't leave
me alone! Kagome?"
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"38.6 degrees Celsius."
When Kagome opened her eyes, her head still felt heavy, and her face felt
like it was burning. Souta was hovered over her, looking with wonder. "It's
unusual for sis to have such a high fever."
Her mother popped into her room with a slight frown on her face. "Really.
Yesterday she came home with dirt all over her uniform."
'Ugh...I feel awful.' Kagome flung one arm over her face, trying to
transfer some coolness into her sweaty face. 'I guess I pushed myself too
hard and finally ran out of steam.'
"I'm going to my part-time job now." Her mom announced, "You get some rest,
ok?"
Kagome replied with a grunt and lowered her lids. She needed to catch up on
some well-needed sleep...but she couldn't fall asleep for a while, there
was one thought tagging her mind.
'I wonder if Hojo is okay by himself.'
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Somewhere on the school grounds, a poor boy with a pot placed on his head
was being chased by a fifth of the student body.
In the classroom where the Y4 always hung out, Inuyasha growled. "Damnit.
That girl is running away."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Sis, how are you doing?" Souta asked later in the evening, still a little
envious because his sister didn't have to go to school.
Kagome smiled and sat up in her bed. "I'm still a bit feverish, but I think
I'm pretty much okay now. I recover quickly."
"Well, mom was wondering if you want to come eat din - " Her brother was
quickly interrupted by the shouts of their parents.
"Wha - what do you want?" Kagome recognised her father's booming voice.
Then her mother's shrill voice. "Kagome? Kagome's sick in bed sleeping.
Hey, don't just barge in here!"
'What's going on?' Confused, Kagome climbed out of bed and was greeted by
her mother standing in the doorframe. "What's going on, mama?"
"Ka - Kagome, a weird young man is here to see you!"
'Weird young man?' Storming past her panicking mother, Kagome rushed
towards the front door and screamed at what she saw. Inuyasha was standing
at the front door! In her house!
"Just what sort of a relationship do you have with our dau - " Her dad was
demanding, but still appeared to look a little scared of the tall man in
front of him. He whipped around and stopped when he heard Kagome screaming.
"What are yo - you doing here?" She asked, still staring at him with
disbelief in her eyes.
"Yo." Was his casual greeting.
"What did you come all the way here for?!" She cried, still waving her arms
in the air in frustration. Kagome smiled in glee when her parents joined
in.
"Yea! This is no place for a punk like you! And what's with the hair?" They
yelled, but stopped once Kagome turned to give them an explanation of whom
they were screaming at.
"Mama! Papa! This is the guy that drove me to my illness! The jerk,
Inuyasha!" Kagome paused and glared at him with a satisfied smirk. "Hurry
up and throw him out!"
Surprisingly, they both froze and for a mere second they looked like
robots. "Inu...yasha? The Inuyasha from his father's Youkai Financial
Corporation?"
"Uhuh. How do you do?" He replied, shooting back the arrogant grin at
Kagome, who was now standing with her jaw on the floor.
"Oh my! This place is such a mess! I'm so embarrassed!" Her dad started
sweat dropping, and started rubbing the back of his head.
Her mom's attitude sure changed a hella lot. "Now, why don't you come in?
Slippers, slippers!" She yelled, holding out the nicest pair they had in
the house.
"If I may say so, Inuyasha, sir," Her dad started smiling. "That hair is
really quite interesting!"
"We don't have much to offer," Interrupted her mom with a blush on her
face. "But if you'd like, you're free to join us for dinner!"
"Pa-papa...mama..." Kagome muttered out, still in shock at how her own
parents seemed to take sides in less than a millisecond. 'I'm cursed to be
born into this family!'
"Kagome! What are you doing? Hurry up and show him around!" She could hear
her mother hollering from the kitchen.
Growling, Kagome signalled for Inuyasha to come to her room, and he was
looking with fascination at the place. "Hmmm, so people can live in a place
like this? It's about the size of my bathroom."
"What did you come here for anyway?!" She screamed, feeling like hurting
someone.
"I heard you were sick." He replied casually with a smile. "And I wanted to
see your weak face. They say only idiots catch summer colds."
Steaming not only because of her sickness this time, Kagome held up a fist
and threatened. "Should an idiot be calling someone else an idiot? I guess
you want to feel my punch again!"
Just then her mother flew into the room and whacked Kagome on the head with
a frying pan. A metal frying pan.
"Sorry." She turned to face Inuyasha, who was standing there with a stunned
look on his face. "I don't know where she learned to talk like that.
Dinner's ready over at the table, so help yourself."
The two of them made their way to the dinner table, and Kagome mentally
cursed when she noticed Inuyasha's serving got fish, and her's didn't. He
looked with confusion at the kinds of food on this petite table.
"I'm sorry there isn't much." Her mother explained, obviously embarrassed.
"I don't know if you'll like it or not. I'm sure your mother doesn't cook
this sort of thing."
"Yes...we have a chef do the cooking." He replied, and started in on the
food.
After dinner, Inuyasha was putting on his shoes in the doorway when he
said, "Thank you very much for dinner, it was delicious."
Kagome wanted to kill herself right then. Both her parents were kneeling
before Inuyasha! This was modern Japan, darn it!
"Oh, it's our pleasure." Her mom answered, and waved towards Kagome, who
was leaning against the wall. "Hey, Kagome! Walk him down the street!"
"What? Why do I have to? I'm sick you know!" She answered, and was about to
go into her room when her mom snatched her arm and whispered in her ear,
"Don't be stupid. It this goes well, our troubles are over! Do your best!"
Ignoring her protests, they escorted Inuyasha out the door and kicked their
daughter out. They were walking in silence down the street when Inuyasha
started chuckling. "Really...you and your mother are one of a kind."
"Don't compare us!" Kagome retorted, wanting to punch Inuyasha in for
laughing. "And why were you playing nice young man, anyway? Did you
honestly think that dinner was delicious?"
"Of course not. As if I would like poor people food." He answered, but
Kagome knew he wolfed down his dinner. "By they way," He continued. "You
going to Hawaii this summer?"
Kagome felt her face heat up. "Of course not! You saw my situation!"
"This is why poor people are irritating..." He replied, shaking his head.
"Can't even shell out $2000 dollars. Can't be helped, I guess I'll pay for
y- "
Kagome had enough, first he complains because she's poor? Then he offers to
pay for her? Who was he, the affected Scrooge? "No thanks! I'm going to
Otami anyway! I was invited to stay at Hojo-kun's summer home!"
"That guy's summer home...?" His asked with a dumbstruck face.
"That's right! I'm really looking forward to it!" She snapped back,
sticking out her tongue at him. "I don't want to see your face all this
summer!"
After yelling a quick 'see ya!' Kagome ran back towards the direction of
her house. He was left standing there, hands in pockets, fuming.
Soon, his chauffeur pulled up in a Mercedes and came running out towards
Inuyasha. "Young master! How did your visit to your sick lady friend go?"
Snapping around, the chauffeur was surprised at the anger in the young
master's face. "Who the hell is my 'sick lady friend', you moron? As if I
would pay a visit to that bimbo!"
Storming past the surprised driver, Inuyasha jumped into the vehicle and
drove off, leaving him standing there. That should teach him not to leave
the keys in the car...
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Kagome! Are you okay now?" Hojo asked early the next morning when he saw
her running down the street.
She smiled back, swinging her high ponytail to the back of her head. "Yep.
Sorry to have worried you."
In the hallway, Inuyasha dashed down to where his two friends were
chatting, and yelled, "Hey! Forget Hawaii. It's too cliché for us!"
Kouga and Miroku stared at him with dumbfounded looks on their faces. "Hey,
man. What's this all about?"
"From now on, the trend is Otami!" Inuyasha announced with a huge smile on
his face. "So this year, we're going to Otami!"
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Hehehehe...I'm evil. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that yes, one school year
has passed. I'm not too sure though. They could be talking about two years
as in after summer, but oh well, this is my story.
Thanks SOOO much to my reviewers, you really do inspire me to continue, as
little as you know it.
What's going to happen in Otami? Well, you'll just have to review to find
out! ^_^
Dedication of this chapter: Megu-chan, thanks for following since the
