Jet Li Movie Reviews

Here are some of my personal opinions and reviews of Jet Li's Flicks.

Jet Li

    Black Mask
  • Cantonese: Hak Hap
  • Mandarin: Hei1 Xia2
  • Literally: Black Hero
  • Producer: Tsui Hark
  • Director: Daniel Lee Yan-Kong
  • Action Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
  • Screenwriter: Tsui Hark, Koan Hui On, Teddy Chan Tak-Sum, Joe Ma Wai-Ho
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Lau Ching-Wan, Karen Morris (Mok Man-Wai), Francoise Yip Fong-Wah, Patrick Lung Kong, Xiong Xin-Xin (Hung Yan-Yan), Moses Chan Ho, Chung King-Fai, Ken Lok Tat-Wah, Lawrence Ah Mon (Lau Kwok-Cheung), Henry Fong Ping, Sze Mei-Yee, Roy Szeto Wai-Cheuk, Chan Suk-Yee, Michael Lambert, Caponio Nunzio, John J. Whitney, Glenn Peters, Winston G. Ellis, Charles Shen

A Tsui Hark production with Jet Li in it, what can go wrong! Jet Li plays as a quiet librarian by morning and green hornet look alike that has extraordinary powers at night. Nothing happens early in the movie , but later his past experiences and people (an old flame and ex-partner in the movie played by "Francoise Yip") will catch up to him which will also involve his best friend cop "played by Lau Ching Wan". Lots of action and fight scenes in this movie. For a Jet Li flick, this was a very different movie. Probably due to the extreme violence, but it's worth checking out!

    Bodyguard from Beijing
  • Cantonese: Jung Naam Hoi Bo Biu
  • Mandarin: Zhong1 Nan2 Hai3 Bao3 Biao1
  • Literally: South China Sea Bodyguard [Chung Nam Hoi is a place in Beijing next to the Forbidden City, where the high officials live]
  • Producer: Jet Li Lian-Jie
  • Director: Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Action Director: Corey Yuen Kwai, Yuen Tak
  • Screenwriter: Gordon Chan Ka-Seung, John Chan Kin-Chung
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Christy Chung Lai-Tai, Kent Cheng Juk-Si, Ngai Sing, Leung Wing-Chung, Ng Wai-Kwok, William Chu Wai-Lim

One of the best of Jet Li's movies. This movie was just like Kevin Costner's version of the bodyguard, but way better. Jet is sent from Beijing to Hong Kong to protect a spoiled rich girl (the beautiful Christy Cheung) who witnesses a murder. The fighting as well as the gun scenes are greatly choreographed. There is also a little bit of romance between Jet and Christy too. I loved this movie so much I saw it over and over again! A must see for those who have not!

    Born to Defense
  • Cantonese: Jung Wa Ying Hung
  • Mandarin: Zhong1 Hua2 Ying1 Xiong2
  • Literally: Chinese Hero
  • Producer: Fu Chui
  • Director: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Tsui Siu-Ming
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Tsui Siu-Ming

This movie was Jet's first directorial debut. This movie was very different because I'm used to seeing Jet Li kicking butt and not getting hurt real bad. Once I saw this movie once with Jet getting his @ss kicked so bad, I definitely could not see it again. This movie was not as good as other of Jet's films, but this is worth checking out.

    Fist of Legend
  • Cantonese: Jing Mo Ying Hung
  • Mandarin: Jing1 Wu3 Ying1 Xiong2
  • Literally: Best Fighting Hero
  • Producer: Jet Li Lian-Jie (aka Lee Yeung-Chung)
  • Director: Gordon Chan Ka-Seung
  • Action Director: Yuen Wo-Ping, Yuen Cheung-Yan, Yuen Sun-Yi, Kuk Hin-Chiu
  • Screenwriter: Gordon Chan Ka-Seung, Kim Ip (Yip Kwong-Kim), Lam Kee-To
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Nakayama Shinobu, Chin Siu-Ho, Ada Choi Siu-Fun, Yasuaki Kurata, Billy Chow Bei-Lei, Paul Chun Pui, Yuen Cheung-Yan, Yuen Sun-Yi, Ko Kiu Lei To, Jackson Lau Hok-Yin, Tam Suk-Mui, Pang Chi-Ching, Cheung Chun-Hung, Lee Man-Biu, Lam Kong

The 90's version of Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury". Jet plays as Chen sent to learn the Japanese technology. Later Chen hears about his sifu's death in a fight competition only to find out the fight was not the cause of death. Lots of fighting in this movie especially in the end. If you liked Fist of Fury, then you'll really love this movie! I highly recommend this movie for those who have not seen it!

    Fong Sai Yuk
  • AKA: Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk, The
  • Cantonese: Fong Sai Yuk
  • Mandarin: Fang1 Shi4 Yu4
  • Producer: Jet Li Lian-Jie (aka Lee Yeung-Chung)
  • Director: Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Action Director: Corey Yuen Kwai, Yuen Tak
  • Screenwriter: Jeff Lau Chun-Wai (aka Kei On), John Chan Kin-Chung, Tsui Kong Yung (Choi Hong-Wing)
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Josephine Siao Fong-Fong, Michelle Reis (Lee Ka-Yan), Sibelle Hu (Wu Wai-Jung), Chan Chung-Yung, Paul Chu Kong, Zhao Wen-Zhou (Chiu Man-Cheuk), Chan Lung
  • Cameo Appearance: Adam Cheng Siu-Chow

Jet Li plays as one of China's real folk heroes. Fong and the rebels of the Red Flower Society; an underground organization, go against the Ching Dynasty. This movie has everything in it. Great action scenes (Sibelle Hu who played as Michele Reis mom) as well as a little bit of romance (compliments of the beautiful Michele Reis) and comedy (Josephine Siao who played Fong Sai yuk's mother) mix in it as well. I love this movie so much because of the momma 's boy theme between Fong Sai Yuk and his mother. It's usually the father and son story, but not in this movie. I highly recommend this movie!

    Fong Sai Yuk II
  • AKA: Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk II, The
  • Cantonese: Fong Sai Yuk II: Maan Foo Mok Dik (Gung Foo Wong Dai)
  • Mandarin: Fang1 Shi4 Yu4 II: Wan4 Fu1 Mo4 Di2 (Gong1 Fu1 Huang2 Di4)
  • Literally: Fong Sai Yuk II: 10,000 Warriors No Enemy (Kung Fu Emperor)
  • Director:Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Michelle Reis (Lee Ka-Yan), Josephine Siao Fong-Fong, Corey Yuen Kwai, Adam Cheng Siu-Chow, Amy Kwok Oi-Ming, Ji Chunhua (Kai Chun-Wah)

The return of the mother and son dual. Jet Li and Josephine Siao reprise their roles again. Fong Sai Yuk volunteers to fight with Sun Flower Clan to obtain a sacred box, but will it be worth it obtaining the information that lies in the box. Great fighting scenes (a awesome scene where Jet Li fights a group of people blindfolded with blades) in this movie! The story is rather disapointing and was not as good as the first one, but this flick is worth watching.

    High Risk
  • Cantonese: Sue Daam Lung Wai
  • Mandarin: Shu3 Dan3 Long2 Wei1
  • Literally: Mouse Courage Dragon Might [Note: (1) The Chinese title of DIE HARD is "Tiger Courage Dragon Might"; (2) "Daam" is Jet's nickname in the movie, "Lung Wai" is the name of Jacky's character]
  • Producer: Wong Jing
  • Director: Wong Jing
  • Action Director: Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Screenwriter: Wong Jing
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Jacky Cheung Hok-Yau, Chingmy Yau Suk-Ching, Valerie Chow Kar-Ling, Wu Ma, Charlie Yeung Choi-Nei, Wong Siu, Ben Lam Kwok-Bun, Charlie Cho Cha-Lei, Tuan Wai-Lun, Billy Chow Bei-Lei
  • Cameo Appearance: Lee Lik-Chi, Vincent Kok Tak-Chiu, Yuen Tak

The combination of Jet Li and my favorite singer/actor Jacky ("Cheung Hok Yau"). I would never thought of seeing these two together in a movie, but the surprise came to me on how well Jacky played his role in this movie! Jacky plays as Franky (a player/slacker/actor like character) in this movie which gets all the fame as Kit Li (played by Jet Li) does all the work for him as an ex-cop, bodyguard and stunt double. Later in the movie, a building gets taking over by criminals similiar to the movie "Die Hard". Kit and Franky are caught in the building and later battles their way out. Even Jacky shows that not only does he sings, but also shows off of some his own fighting skill! This movie had a lot of action like Die Hard and was a little funny as well thanks to Jacky. Not the best movie I've ever saw of Jet Li's, but the rarest combination of Jacky and Jet together in a movie. This movie was pretty good and is worth checking out.

    Hitman
  • Cantonese: Saat Sau Ji Wong
  • Mandarin: Sha1 Shou3 Zhi1 Wang2
  • Literally: King of Assassins
  • Producer: Gordon Chan Ka-Seung
  • Director: Stephen Tung Wai
  • Screenwriter: Chan Hing-Kai, Vincent Kok Tak-Chiu, Cheng Kam-Fuk
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Eric Tsang Chi-Wai, Simon Yam Tat-Wah, Gigi Leung Wing-Kay, Kim Ip (Yip Kwong-Kim), Paul Ropovshi

Jet plays as "Fu", a hitman for hire along with Eric Tsang as his agent. Simon Yam Tat Wah plays the cop looking for the killer. A hit was made on a Japanese business man. A ransom is made to all of the hitmans in the world to trace the killer of the Japanese business man. This movie was not too bad on the action and the story was not that bad. This movie is a must have for Jet Li fans as this is the first movie where you can actually hear Jet's own voice. Usually his movies are dubbed!

    Kids From Shaolin
  • AKA: Kids from Shaolin
  • Cantonese: Siu Lam Siu Ji
  • Mandarin: Shao3 Lin2 Xiao3 Zi3
  • Literally: Shaolin Kids
  • Director: Cheung Kam-Yim
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Wong Chau-Yin, Yu Hai, Ding Lan, San Feng, Ka Li

This movie is very old with a very young Jet Li. A classic for me to watch when I was a kid! Jet Li and bunch of Shaolin boys learn a new fighting style that only the Shaolin knows. On the otherside of the land is a group of girls from the Dragon clan that know a sword fighting style that only the Dragon clan knows. Later both clans will join together to fight a small band of thieves. Awesome Wushu skills by both the girls and boys in this movie. Again not many of these movies are out with Wushu style fighting. A must see classic with comedy and great fighting in it!

    Last Hero in China
  • AKA: Deadly China Hero
  • Cantonese: Tit Gai Dau Ng Gung
  • Mandarin: Tie3 Ji1 Dou4 Wu2 Gong1
  • Literally: Iron Rooster Fights Centipede
  • Producer: Jet Li Lian-Jie (aka Lee Yeung-Chung) siu-yy
  • Director: Wong Jing
  • Action Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
  • Screenwriter: Wong Jing
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Cheung Man, Dicky Cheung Wai-Kin, Natalis Chan Bak-Cheung, Leung Ka-Yan, Gordon Liu (Lau Ka-Fai), Anita Yuen Wing-Yee, Chu Chung-Shun, Chu Teet-Wor, Yuen King-Tan

This movie was part of the Wong Fei Hung series, but not part of the Once Upon a Time in China series. Wong Fei Hung (Jet Li) decides to look for a new Po Chi Lam school because the old school is too small, is then later offered a place to rent out compliments of Master Wong (played by Natalis Chan Bak-Cheung), but what he didn't know was that the new school was next to a brothel owned by Master Wong who is also known as Master Pimps! Later in the movie Fei Hung will battle with a military general who is a cover up with the Boxer Rebellion Society working along with monks who secretely capture prostitutes to ship over Southeast Asia to trade with the British to throw them off. During the movie Fei Hung deals a situation as he accidently drinks a whole bottle of tonic causing his ear to go deaf. A great movie and adaptation of the Wong Fei Hung series. Lots of fighting (A centipede versus chicken fight scene almost like a lion dance) and comedy (Ah So and Ah Fu messing around in the brothel) in this movie. I highly recommend this movie!

    My Father is Hero
  • AKA: My Father the Hero
  • Cantonese: Kap Ba Ba Dik Sun
  • Mandarin: Gei3 Ba4 Ba4 De Xin4
  • Literally: Letter to Daddy
  • Producer: Charles Heung Wah-Keung, Jimmy Heung Wah-Sing
  • Director: Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Action Director: Corey Yuen Kwai, Yuen Tak
  • Screenwriter: Sandy Shaw (Siu Lai-King), Wong Jing (?)
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Tze Miu, Anita Mui Yim-Fong, Yu Rong-Guang, Blacky Ko Sau-Leung, Ken Lo Wai-Kwong, Ngai Sing, Damian Lau Chung-Yun
  • Cameo Appearance: Corey Yuen Kwai, Henry Fong Ping

Another of my all time favorite Jet Li movies. Jet plays as Kung Wei; an undercover cop from Beijing sent to Hong Kong as an undercover to infiltrate and blend in with a smuggling gang. Anita Mui plays the Hong Kong cop which is to apprehend Kung Wei and his band of smugglers. Kung Wei's cover might be exposed as he later finds out his son (played by the young and talented Je Miu) is also in Hong Kong. A great thing about this movie was the combination of father and son helping each other to take down the criminals. There aren't too many of these movies around. Lot's of great fighting and the story is very good too! This movie is highly recommended!

    New Legend of Shaolin
  • AKA: Legends of Shaolin
  • Cantonese: Hung Hei Goon Ji Siu Lam Ng Jo
  • Mandarin: Hong2 Xi1 Guan1 Zhi1 Shao3 Lin2 Wu3 Zu3
  • Literally: Hung Hei-Koon: Shaolin's 5 Founders
  • Producer: Pui Cheung-Chuen
  • Director: Wong Jing
  • Action Director: Corey Yuen Kwai
  • Screenwriter: Wong Jing
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Chingmy Yau Suk-Ching, Deannie Yip Tak-Han, Tze Miu, Wang Lung-Wei, Chan Chung-Yung, Damian Lau Chung-Yun, Chu Ko-Liang, Adam Cheng Siu-Chow, Kai Chun-Wah
  • Cameo Appearance: Wong Jing

One of my all time favorites of Jet Li's folk hero characters. Jet plays as as one of China's folk heroes "Hung Hei Goon" founder of Hung Gar Fist. Great fighting scenes from Jet himself along with his son (the same kid who played in "My Father is Hero"). Chingmy Yau also does a good job playing as a con artist daughter in this movie and also adds some comedy to the flick too. A must see for Jet Li fans!

Once Upon a Time in China
  • Cantonese: Wong Fei Hung
  • Mandarin: Huang2 Fei1 Hong2
  • Director: Tsui Hark
  • Action Director: Yuen Cheung-Yan, Yuen Sun-Yi, Lau Ka-Wing
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam, Yuen Biao, Kent Cheng Juk-Si, Jacky Cheung Hok-Yau, Yang Yee-Kwan (Yam Sai-Koon), Jimmy Wang Yu, Wu Ma
  • Cameo Appearance: Yuen Cheung-Yan

The first installment to Tsui Harks Wong Fey Hung series. This movie gave Jet Li world wide fame. Jet Li plays as "Wong Fey Hung" who was actually a real person in the early centuries of China. Fey Hung fights against the American foreigners for who trick people into coming onto their ship to become slaves. Fey Hung also gets involved in a battle against the triads who ship prostitutes across lands. Not a whole lot of fighting in this movie, but this movie had a great plot and theme to it. I highly recommend this movie!

Once Upon a Time in China II
  • Cantonese: Wong Fei Hung Ji Yi: Naam Yi Dong Ji Keung
  • Mandarin: Huang2 Fei1 Hong2 Zhi1 Er4: Nan2 Er2 Dang1 Zi4 Qiang2
  • Literally: Wong Fei Hong 2: Man Should Be Self Sufficient
  • Producer: Tsui Hark
  • Director: Tsui Hark
  • Action Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Max Mok Siu-Chung, Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam, Donnie Yen Ji-Dan, David Chiang (Keung Dai-Wai), Xiong Xin-Xin (Hung Yan-Yan), Cheung Tit-Lam, Paul Fonoroff (Fong Bo-Lo)

The second installment to Tsui Harks Wong Fey Hung series. Wong Fey Hung (played by Jet) attends a medical teaching seminar with the British foreigners. He also meets Dr Sun Yat Sen which also attends the seminar. Wong Fey Hung later goes up against the White Lotus Society which they believe they are invincible to bullets. Awesome fighting scenes between (Jet Li and Donnie Yen) and a pretty good story. This flick is worth checking out.

Once Upon a Time in China III
  • Cantonese: Wong Fei Hung Ji Saam: Si Wong Jaang Ba
  • Mandarin: Huang2 Fei1 Hong2 Zhi1 San1: Shi1 Wang2 Zheng1 Ba4
  • Literally: Wong Fei Hong 3: Lion King Struggle for Supremacy
  • Producer: Tsui Hark
  • Director: Tsui Hark
  • Action Director: Yuen Tak
  • Screenwriter: Tsui Hark
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Max Mok Siu-Chung, Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam, Lau Shun, Mo Shao Min, Xiong Xin-Xin (Hung Yan-Yan)

The third installment to Tsui Harks Wong Fey Hung series. Fey Hung (played by Jet) and Aunt 13 (played by Rosamund Kwan) goes to see his father who owns a store creating lion heads. In middle of the movie Aunt 13 meets an old boyfriend and is given a camera. The camera later catches a footage of one of the foreigners killing someone. Later Fey Hung finds out that an assasination plot on the Emperor is supposed to happen during the lion dance tournament. Fey Hung enters the lion dance competition to stop the assasination. This is also the first meeting between Fey Hung and the character Clubfoot played by Hung Yan Yan. Awesome lion dance scenes with tons of lions in it. A very good movie to watch.

Once Upon a Time in China & America
  • AKA: Once Upon a Time in China 6
  • Cantonese: Wong Fei Hung Ji Sai Wik Hung Si
  • Mandarin: Huang2 Fei1 Hong2 Zhi1 Xi1 Yu4 Xiong2 Shi1
  • Literally: Wong Fei Hung: West Territory Mighty Lion
  • Producer:Tsui Hark
  • Director: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo
  • Action Director: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo
  • Screenwriter: Sharon Hui Sa-Long, Szeto Cheuk-Hon, Philip Kwok Wai-Chung, Sze Mei-Yee, So Man-Sing
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam, Xiong Xin-Xin (Hung Yan-Yan), Chan Kwok-Bong, Jeff Wolfe, Joe Sayah, Chrysta Bell Eucht, Lung Kong, Richard Ng Yiu-Hon, William Fung Kwan-Mang, Johnny Koo Kwok-Wah, Roger Yuan, T.J. Storm, Ryan Marshall, Gavin Perry, Chris Doughton, Freddy Joe, Jason Dehoyos

A Tsui Hark production with Samo "Hung Kam Bo" at the directors seat! This chapter of the great Wong Fey Hung legend is excellent. Wong Fey Hung (played by Jet) goes off to see his student Ah Fu who opens a Po Chi Lam store in America. During the journey Fey Hung get's into a battle with a tribe of Indians and later in a scene gets hit in the head causing him to lose his memory. The fight scenes were awesome with great aerial kicks by the character Seven (played by Hung Yan Yan). This movie is different probably due to the environment it was taped in. I highly recommend this movie!

    Shaolin Temple
  • Cantonese: Siu Lam Ji
  • Mandarin: Shao3 Lin2 Si4
  • Literally: Shaolin Temple
  • Producer: Liu Yat-Yuen
  • Director: Cheung Kam-Yim
  • Action Director: Ma Yin-Tat, Yu Hoi, Poon Ching-Fuk, Wong Seung-Hoi
  • Screenwriter: Lo Siu-Cheung, Sit Hau
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Yu Hoi, Yu Sing-Wai, Ting Nam, Wu Yin-Keung, Suen Lin-Fui, Lau Wai-Leung, Kai Chun-Wah, Cheung Kin-Man, Yim Dik-Wah, Wong Kwong-Kuen, Wong Yuk, To Chuen-Yeung, Chui Chi-Keung, Sau Fung, Henry Fong Ping, Cheung Hung-Boh, San Kei Chuen Tung, Poon Ching-Fuk, So Fei, Chan Kwok-On, Bin Lap-Cheung, Wong Kwok-Yi, Suen Sing-Kwan

Jet Li's first ever movie! This movie showcases Jet Li's Wushu skills and proves that he won those 5 Wushu championships were not for nothing. Jet plays as a slave caught by criminals, escapes and ends up finding his way to the Shaolin temple, later comes back and takes revenge for both the Shaolin and for his father fate by the criminals. All the fight scenes were choreographed in Wushu style. There aren't too many movies like this anymore. this tape was very hard for me to get for my collection so good luck finding it, but if you manage to see a single copy, you must get it! I highly recommend this movie!

    Shaolin Kung Fu
  • AKA: North and South Shaolin
  • AKA: Shaolin Temple 3: Martial Arts of Shaolin
  • Cantonese: Naam Bak Siu Lam
  • Mandarin: Nan2 Bei3 Shao3 Lin2
  • Literally: South North Shaolin
  • Director: Liu Chia-Liang (Lau Ka-Leung)
  • Action Director: The Liu Clan
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Liu Chia-Liang (Lau Ka-Leung), Yu Hai, Yu Cheng Wai, Wong Chou Yin

This movie showcases Jet Li's intense and grueling training and him doing Kung Fu forms. He does them with great speed and fluidly too. There's also various martial artists in the movie who showcases their own abilities and strengths. There was one guy who can stand on the tip of his two fingers upside down without struggling! Another guy who had the ability to lift his testes so when he gets kicked in the groin (OUCH!) he doesn't feel anything. Others in the movie showcased some great Wu Shu talents. This was not a movie, but just a documentary. Worth checking out to see how Jet Li become the man we all know him today!

    Swordsman II
  • Cantonese: Siu Ngo Gong Woo Ji Dung Fong Bat Baai
  • Mandarin: Xiao4 Ao4 Jiang1 Hu2 Zhi1 Dong1 Fang1 Bu2 Bai4
  • Literally: Laughing and Proud Warrior: Invincible Asia
  • Producer: Tsui Hark
  • Director: Ching Siu-Tung, Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai
  • Action Director: Ching Siu-Tung, Yuen Tak, Ma Yuk-Sing, Cheung Yiu-Sing
  • Screenwriter: Tsui Hark, Hanson Chan, Tang Pik-Yin
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam, Brigitte Lin Ching-Hsia, Michelle Reis (Lee Ka-Yan), Fennie Yuen Kit-Ying, Yang Yee-Kwan (Yam Sai-Koon), Waise Lee Chi-Hung, Chin Kar-Lok

A Tsui Hark production. Invincible Asia (played by greatly by Taiwanese star Brigette Lin Chin Shia) steals a scroll which gives the learner invincible fighting ability, but learning from the scroll turns all that learn from the scroll into the opposite sex. Lin (played by Jet Li) is forced to fight for the return of the scroll. Lots of fighting scenes and flying scenes in this movie with plenty of magical explosions! A very cool movie and must be seen!

    The Master
  • AKA: Wong Fei Hong '92
  • Cantonese: Lung Hang Tin Ha
  • Mandarin: Long2 Xing2 Tian1 Xia4
  • Literally: Dragon Travels Land Under Heaven
  • Director: Tsui Hark
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Yuen Wah, Jerry Trimble, Crystal Kwok Kam-Yan, Billy Blanks, To Wai Woo, Lam Ping Hong

Another Tsui Hark and Jet Li combination. This movie is the 90's version of the historical folk hero Wong Fei Hung. The setting takes place in California. Jet goes to the states to find his sifu only to find a group of gangs lead by a corrupt martial arts master attacks the store injuring Jet's sifu. Not the best of Jet, but doesn't hurt to watch.

    The Tai Chi Master
  • Cantonese: Taai Gik Jeung Saam Fung
  • Mandarin: Tai4 Ji2 Zhang1 San1 Feng1
  • Literally: Tai Chi Cheung Sam-Fung
  • Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
  • Screenwriter: Kim Ip (Yip Kwong-Kim)
  • Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Michelle Khan/Yeoh (Yeung Chi-King), Chin Siu-Ho, Fennie Yuen Kit-Ying, Yuen Cheung-Yan

Jet Li plays as the founder of Tai Chi. Junbiao (Jet Li) and his best friend Tienbiao (Chin Siu-Ho from "Fist of Legend") roam the land after being expelled from the Shaolin Temple. Later both will choose a different path. Tienbiao chooses to fight for the emperor and have riches and power while Junbiao will choose to stay with a small band of rebels that will later fight against Tienbiao and his army. Great fighting scenes in this movie and bit of comedy as well. The first combination of Jet Li and Michele Yeoh too! This movie is highly recommended!
