Jackie Chan Movie Reviews

Here are some of my personal opinions and reviews of Jacky's Chan Flicks.

Jackie Chan

    First Strike
  • AKA: Police Story 4: The First Strike
  • AKA: Jackie Chan's First Strike [U.S.]
  • Cantonese: Ging Chaat Goo Si IV Ji Gaan Daan Yam Mo
  • Mandarin: Jing3 Cha2 Gu4 Shi4 IV Zhi1 Jian3 Dan1 Ren4 Wu4
  • Literally: Police Story IV: Simple Mission
  • Producer: Barbie Tung
  • Director: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai
  • Action Director: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai, Jackie Chan (Sing Lung)
  • Screenwriter: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai, Nick Tramontane, Greg Mellot, Ellitot Tong Ming-Gei
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Jackson Lau Hok-Yin, Annie Wu (Ng San-Kwan), Sit Chun-Wai, Bill Tung Piu, Tuan Wai-Lun, Jouri Petrov

One of Jacky's greatest action flick of the Police Story series! Jacky plays as an undercover cop sent from Hong Kong to find nuclear weapons in the Ukraine. Jacky does a lot of crazy stunts in this movie (crazier than Rumble in the Bronx)! Awesome action and fight scenes makes you want to watch this movie over and over again. I highly recommend this one!

    Mr Nice Guy
  • AKA: Super Chef
  • Cantonese: Yat Goh Ho Yan
  • Mandarin: Yi1 Ge4 Hao3 Ren2
  • Literally: A Good Person
  • Producer: Chua Lam
  • Director: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo
  • Action Director: Jackie Chan Stuntman Team, Cho Wing
  • Screenwriter: Edward Tang King-Sang, Fibe Ma Mei-Ping
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Gabrielle Fitzpatrick, Karen McLymont, Miki Lee Ching-Yee, Richard Norton, Vince Poletto, Barry Otto, Peter Houghton, Peter Lindsay, David No, Rachel Blakely, Judy Green
  • Cameo Appearance: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, Emil Chow Wah-Kin, Joyce Godenzi (Ko Lai-Hung)

Jacky Chan at his finest! This film was great with tons of stunts and fight (compliments of Jacky and Samo Hung doing the choreography) scenes in it as well as funny scenes. Jacky plays a cook on television who gets caught up in a middle of a video tape switching by accident of his cooking and a gang versus mob killing on video tape. This movie is a must see for those of you who have not! I highly recommend it!

    Police Story 3: Supercop
  • AKA: Supercop
  • Cantonese: Ging Chaat Goo Si III: Chiu Kap Ging Chaat
  • Mandarin: Jing3 Cha2 Gu4 Shi4 III: Chao1 Ji2 Jing3 Cha2
  • Literally: Police Story III: Supercop
  • Producer: Willie Chan, Edward Tang King-Sang
  • Director: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai
  • Action Director: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai, Tang Tak-Wing, Sit Chun-Wai, Chan Man-Ching, Wong Ming-Sing
  • Screenwriter: Edward Tang King-Sang
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Michelle Khan/Yeoh (Yeung Chi-King), Yuen Wah, Kenneth Tsang Kong, Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk, Bill Tung Piu, Kelvin Wong, Josephine Koo Mei-Wah, Wong Siu, Tuan Wai-Lun
  • Cameo Appearance: Phillip Chan Yan-Kin

Jacky Chan and Michele Yeoh are undercover cops sent to mix with a band of smuggling arms dealers. Lots of action fights scenes and stunts done by Jacky and Michele. Jacky got severely injured doing a stunt in this flick. Not the best of Jacky, but worth checking out.

    Project A
  • Cantonese: "A" Gai Waak
  • Mandarin: "A" Ji4 Hua4
  • Literally: Project A
  • Producer:Raymond Chow Man-Wai
  • Director:Jackie Chan (Sing Lung)
  • Action Director: Jackie Chan's Stuntman Association
  • Screenwriter: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Edward Tang King-Sang
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, Yuen Biao, Dick Wei, Foh Sing, Isabella Wong Man-Lay, Tai Bo, Cheung Ng-Long, Lee Hoi-Sang, Kwan Hoi-San, Wong Wai, Kwan Fat, Law Ho-Kai, Lau Hak-Suen, Wu Ma, Hon Yi-Sang, Chow Yun-Kin, Wong Kwan, Lai Keung-Kuen, Shek Kwai-Jai, Tong Kam-Tong, Ng Lai-Chu, Man Kit-Wan, Mars

The first of the fabulous trio of Samo Hung, Yuen Biao and Jacky Chan all in one awesome movie, you can't ask for more. This was one great movie with tons of stunts and bodies flying everywhere. Lots of movies involving stunts can learn from this movie. There were stunts involving people falling from high stairs and other places (even Jacky himself did a stunt falling from a high clock tower) was so done so well, even I can feel the pain. Excellent movie and a must see.

    Rumble in the Bronx
  • Cantonese: Hung Faan Kui
  • Mandarin: Hong2 Fan1 Qu1
  • Literally: Red Savage Territory [or "Red Indian Territory", a reference to "Fort Apache, The Bronx"]
  • Producer: Barbie Tung Wan-Si
  • Director: Stanley Tong Kwai-Lai
  • Action Director: Jackie Chan's Stuntman Association, Sammo Hung's Stuntman Association
  • Screenwriter: Edward Tang King-Sang
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Anita Mui Yim-Fong, Francoise Yip Fong-Wah
  • Cameo Appearance: Bill Tung Piu, Emil Chow Wah-Kin, Raymond To Kwok-Wai, Jamie Luk Kim-Ming

This movie is truly a rumble! Jacky goes to New York to see his uncle. His uncle gets married and leaves the store for Jacky and a new owner (played by Anita Mui Yim Fong) to take care of. Life as a store clerk is not easy as gangs start to terrorize the store. Later a mob will get involved in the terrorizing while looking for their goods taking away by one of the gang members. Great fight scenes and a bit of comedy as well as crazy stunts done by Jacky! This movie is a must see!

    Thunderbolt
  • Cantonese: Pik Lik Foh
  • Mandarin: Pi1 Li4 Huo3
  • Literally: Thunderbolt Fire
  • Producer: Chua Lam
  • Director: Gordon Chan Ka-Seung
  • Action Director: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, Frankie Chan Fan-Kei
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Anita Yuen Wing-Yee, Michael Wong Man-Tak, Ken Lo Wai-Kwong, Chor Yuen, Annie Man Chung-Han, Corey Yuen Kwai, Chin Kar-Lok, Dayo Wong Chi-Wah, Tuan Wai-Lun, Wu Hoi-Yan, Kayama Yuzo, Eguro Mara, Sawada Kenya
  • Cameo Appearance:Shing Fui-On

Not the best movie of Jacky's, but one of his finest! Jacky is a ex-cop/mechanic who is forced to race a foreign drug dealing race car driver in order to get his sister back. This movie has a lot of racing in it with cars getting flipped and smashed. This movie was good because it had a lot of cool cars in it as well as some cool fighting scenes (a rare combination). A pretty good movie too watch especially if you like racing cars.

    Who Am I?
  • Cantonese: Ngoh Si Sui
  • Mandarin: Wo3 Shi4 Shei2
  • Literally: Who Am I?
  • Director: Benny Chan Muk-Sing, Jackie Chan (Sing Lung)
  • Cast: Jackie Chan (Sing Lung), Michelle Ferre, Yamamoto Mira

The title of this movie says it all. Jacky is a selected member of a secret undercover group of specialists sent to kidnap scientists along with a special rock that enables itself to produce a mass amount of energy. While going home from the mission, the helicopter goes down into the desert of Africa. Jacky next thing he knows it finds himself awake in a hut with no memory of who he is. It's a long journey for Jacky as he tries to gain his memory back. This movie has a lot of talk in it and you have to be patient for the fight scenes. Not the best of Jacky, but worth watching.
