Fushigi Yuugi, created by Watase Yuu, is one of my favorite anime series. It's about a girl named Miaka who has gone into a book and back in time to Konan, in ancient China. There she became the Suzaku no Miko (the priestess of the red phoenix), and with the help of her seven seishi, defeated the enemy country and saved Konan from destruction. I think it's a great series, and if you are interested, it is already released in dubbed and subbed formats! So don't forget to grab a copy soon!
