Touji is a friend of Shinji's and Kensuke. He has deep feelings for his sister, who was injured during the fight between the fight of the Third Angel and Eva Unit 01. Touji is later to be the fourth Child to be identified by the Marduk report and pilot of Unit 03 when it arrives in Japan from the United States. He agreed to pilot the Eva under the condition that his sister would be transfered to the HQ hospital.
