It would be a toss up between "Two Girls For Every Boy"--first aired 11.10.1998 and "Puppetmaster"--first aired 11.17.1998.
Two Girls for Every Boy
Ordinarily Finch would be extremely frustrated at being rebuffed by yet another gorgeous model, but not this time. The reason? It's not Elliott that the lovely Jill has her eye on, it's Maya! He immediately begins scheming to make his ultimate fantasy come true- the chance to watch a girl-on-girl romp. Meanwhile, Jack cajoles Elliott and Nina into treating him like "one of the guys", but they take the idea too far.
This episode is by far a favorite--seeing what a US Passport officer, a policeman, even a bunch of gangbangers would do to help a guy get into a two woman experience. In a way it sort of validates the brotherhood of heterosexual mankind! Also funny was Jack's electrically rigged chairs in his office to zap Elliott and Nina. Ironically, Nina "got off" on the sensation, despite Elliott's howls of pain!
Puppetmaster
Maya's coworkers find it strange when she begins dating Steven (played by 3rd Rock From The Sun's French Stewart), the host of a children's puppet show on TV. As far as she's concerned, though, their relationship is going very well- until she suspects Steven is using the characters on his show to criticize her. Meanwhile, Nina decides to enter the entrepreneurial world, but her choice of investments- a nightclub that doesn't even have a name- is questionable indeed. Also, a heartfelt confession of Elliott's during the guys' emotional viewing of Brian's Song comes back to haunt him.
This episode is my favorite because of French Stewart's appearence on the show. His portrayal of a somewhat twisted "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" show was too funny! Kudos to the writers for Ms. Panda's hasselling of Mr. Mayor "I use fancy words like 'subtext' which show how good a college I went to!" Extra kudos to the maker of the puppet Ms. Gina Giraffe--a pouty-lipped, rouged Giraffe that looked like Nina!!!
Note: Steven and Maya's relationship is not the only one discussed on Steven's puppet show. The tag scene is an obvious parody of President Clinton's confession of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. This is JSM's second Clinton parody of the season. ("Steamed" was the first.)
