Without a doubt, fusions are some of the most interesting aspects of the DBZ series. They're a very effective way of finding new talents when lacking powerful warriors.
Goku learns the fusion technique from Dai-Kaioshin and Pai Ku Han. He had planned to fuse his son Gohan and form an infinitely powerful warrior, but Gohan was absorbed by Boo before then could fuse together, and Goku was forced to fuse Vegeta instead. Goku also asks Piccolo to teach the fusion technique to Goten and Trunks, due to the lack of real warriors to fight Boo. Let's begin:

Vegetto
(Vegeta + Kakkarotto = Vegetto) is the series' most
powerful character. Since Goku learns the fusion
technique while he was dead, 15-Dai-Kaioshin has to
sacrifice his life in order to bring Goku back to life to
fight Boo. The fusion lasts for just 30 minutes before
both fighters separate. in order to make the fusion ore
powerful and not having to do the fusion-waza, both
fighters must wear one of 15-Dai-Mae-Kaioshin's Pothala
earrings, in different ears. The problem is that this way
the fusion is permanent. As I said before, Goku wanted to fuse wth Gohan, but was forced to fuse with Vegeta because all the other fighters were either absorbed or destroyed by Boo's Genocide Attack, except Dende and Mr Satan. Vegeta offers to fuse with Goku after he is killed and comes back from the Afterworld to fight. Vegetto lets Boo absorb him to pull the other warriors out of him and lower his power, and inside Boo he separates in to Goku and Vegeta again. Vegeta destroys his Pothala and bows never to fuse with Goku again, and together they pull their friends out of Boo. |
Gozita had no real appearance on the DBZ series. He jumped into scene briefly on Movie 12, wich has little continuity with the main series. After the fight with Boo, a new enemy called Janenba appears. He starts bringin the dead back to life and making trouble all over the planet. Goku tries to stop him, but even SSJ3 is useless against him. So Goku pulls an ace out of his sleeve and brings Vegeta back from the Afterworld and requests his help. Needless to say, Vegeta wasn't too happy about dancing with Goku, so he screws up the first time. The result was a tiny little midget that resembled both of our heroes. After 2 failed attempts, Gozita, who si according to some stronger than Vegitto, appears. He must be stronger, coz in DBGT, Super Goku 4 and Super Vegeta 4 fuse into Super Gozita 4 every other minute...

Undoubtedly, Gotenks is the series most entertaining charcter. He's a presumtious little brat, but he can kick some ass. Goten and Trunks learn the fusion technique from Piccolo during the Boo saga, right before Boo shows up to attack'em. Boo defeats then, but doesn't kill'em, and the next time they fight Gotenks reaches SSJ3. Despite being inmensely powerful, Gotenks is absorbed by Boo in no time, giving Boo a tremendous amount of power. |
