Chapter 40

With the danger that Sakura is in from the last chapter, Shaolan is noticeably shock, sensing...something. He quickly gives Takashi his tray and runs off. Tomoyo is confused and Shaolan on his way explains that he senses magic and that something has happened. Tomoyo is extremely worried but before she can react, Shaolan is gone out the door.

Meanwhile, the lights are still bursting and Yukito is still protecting Sakura with his wings. With his renewed powers, he says that this is definately feels like Clow's powers. Sakura is relunctant to agree since she knows that Clow is dead. However, before she can finish stating this she hears voices from outside. There are still people who want to come in. Without much time, Sakura transforms "The Maze" and "The Illusion" into Sakura Cards and transforms the entire Hall of Stars. However, the magic is growing and Sakura tries to find out where the origin is. As soon as she finds out, she runs towards its direction, leaving Yue behind and into the unknown with bursting lights all around her. Sakura finally approaches a curtain and quickly draws it back. It's Eriol, still smiling with kind eyes and he quickly casts a spell causing Sakura to fall asleep. Eriol catches Sakura before she can completely fall and states that she could find him, she could change two cards at the same time and then he states that her power is growing stronger.

Meanwhile, Shaolan breaks through the maze and finds Yue. They both go in search for Sakura. Yue asks Shaolan if he's defeated the cards but suddenly, two cards fly by Shaolan. They are "The Illusion" and "The Maze". Quickly, the Hall of Stars returns to its original form. Yue states that the his master's power has been interrupted and Shaolan yells out Sakura's name. "Sakura!!"

Sakura, however can't hear him since she is dreaming. She sees a large manor and then Yue and Kero-chan. The next image she sees is that of Clow. Clow states that today will be the day of his death. Kerberos doesn't think this is a funny joke but Clow isn't joking. He states that his life is over and despite what Kerberos says (about him being the most powerful magician in the world), he has to make preparations for a new master to come. Yue is angered and says that he doesn't want another master. Clow then states that Yue will be the one to make judgement on the new master and Kerberos will chose the person. Kerebos finally figures out that Clow is serious and saddened, knows that they can not stop him. Clow cares very much for Yue and Kerberos and he wants them both to be happy. He then seals Yue into The Clow book. Kerberos says that knowing Yue, he'll never find a person he will accept but Clow says that is the reason why he wants Kerberos to find a person they will both like. Kerebos resigns and says that Clow is very stubborn, he doesn't have a good person, has a short temper, powers that are far too strong and is in fact, very weird, ^^ but all in all, Clow was a very good master. With this, Clow thanks him and seals him into the book. Finally, Clow performs his final spell. Eyes closed, he begins to disintegrate and with a brite shining light, two small child figures take his place. This surprises Sakura. However, the dream abruptly ends as Shaolan wakes her up. (I swear, he's said "Sakura!" about 4 times now...or there about.)

Anyway, apparently Sakura is now outside and Yue and Shaolan are very concerned. She is rested by a tree with two clow cards in her hands. Yue asks what happened and Sakura tells him that she had a dream. However, they are not along as Eriol is once again in a tree watching them. (what is with him and trees...^^) He seems very happy saying that even though Sakura has touched a little of his powers, she was able to dream of Clow Reed's past...that would mean that...well, he doesn't really say, he says that "It will be soon..." (he's always vague...grrrr...)

Back at Sakura's house, Kero-chan states that the house that Sakura dreamed of was indeed the house they used to live in. However, he remembers that day differently. He remembers being at Clow's side but then states that it is possible, Clow had changed their memories. He will have to talk to Yue about this and soon the topic changes to Yukito. Sakura gives him this strange look when he asks if Yukito is here and she says that Yuki is waiting for Touya to wake up in his room.

Finally, at that same moment, Touya wakes up. He is happy that Yukito has not disappeared but Yukito is a little saddened that his life has been a lie. He has not family, he was never a transfer student and that all of his memories are a lie. Touya is not disturbed by this and says that all the memories Yukito has had since he has met Touya are true and that no matter what Yue is, he'd always be happy if Yukito was there, just the same and by his side. (Awww...)

Later, in the streets of Tokyo, Sakura, Tomoyo and Shaolan are ready to go homw. It's night time. Tomoyo tells Sakura to go get some rest and Sakura assures her that she will. All the groceries have been bought and so she can go straight home. Apparently, the two had gone shopping with her for groceries. She thanks both of them and Tomoyo leaves. However, Shaolan tells her that he's going to walk her home. (WHAT A CUTIE!) Sakura is a little surprised since Shaolan's home is in a totally different direction. Shaolan says it doesn't matter and then Sakura promptly suggests they go to the park.

In the park, they both put their bags, groceries and one school hat on the bench. They are both on the swings. With a melancholy expression on her face, Sakura tells Shaolan that she told Yukito her feelings today. Shaolan is obviously shocked and looks down clenching his swing chain. She then continues to say that Yukito had said that he is not her favourite person. He said that the way Sakura feels is the same way she feels about her father. She admits that as she thinks about it, the feelings are extremely similar but sadly, she knows that it is a little different. It's only a little but it's still different. Shaolan who was a little shocked at first seems very sympathetic to Sakura. She goes on to say that Yukito has someone in his heart and that person is someone she likes very much. That person would definately return Yukito's feelings and she believes that she is not Yuki's favourite person. All she needs is for Yukito and his favourite person to be together and if they're happy, she is happy. In doing so, she completely understands what Tomoyo has often said.

However, Sakura can't take it any longer and begins to cry. She's a little confused but she can't help but cry. She had wanted to cry but that would make Yukito sad. So, she's been holding it in all day. She then realizes that she's crying and feels a little stupid, saying that she understands what Yukito says and that if Yukito will be happy, she really will be happy... At this point, Shaolan stands up from his swing and hands her his hankerchief. He says that he understands...he completely understands and this seems to cheer up Sakura. Sakura thanks Shaolan and begins to lean on his shoulder. She says that Yukito had said that she will one day be able to find her favourite person and that person will like her as well. Shaolan is very sympathetic and with her head still on his shoulder, she says that if she can find this person, then that would be good. Shaolan places both hands on Sakura's shoulders (kinda like an embrace) and says that she shouldn't worry...she will definately find that person. The scene pans out to this incredibly adoreable scene and Sakura smiles, acknowledging what Shaolan has said.

(Awww....this was so sweet. All of it was sweet... ^^)
