The Hindu mythology consists of numerous tales of gods, the devas and the asuras. However, there are only two great epics of the Hindus. They are the Mahabarath and Ramayana. Mahabarath tells of the story of struggle between cousins for power. It shows the victory of good over bad. Ramayana portrays the story of Lord Rama, who went on exile as per his father's orders.

According to Hindu mythologies, when bad takes over good, God manifests himself on the earth, in the form of a human being. Hindus believe that there are ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu known as Dasa Avatar.

Lord Krishna, who has played a pivotal role in the Mahabarath, and Lord Rama of the Ramayana are living gods of the Hindu mythology. The gods of Hinduism are considered super-human and are treated with warmth and familiarity.
