Luna is Serena's cat guardian from the Moon Kingdom. She was awoken from her cold sleep when the Negaverse threatened the Earth. They come to know each other when Luna finds Serena, and gives her the transformation broach. Thus, Luna finds the person destined to be Sailor Moon, and later on the Moon Princess. Luna is generally a leader in her own right, since she has memories of the Sailor Scouts' past. Luna is also a motivational character. And believe it or not, the cat can talk!
Artemis is the white guardian cat of the Moon Kingdom. For reasons unknown, he is seperated from Luna during their cold sleep. When he awakens he finds Mina and becomes Mina's white cat. Before Sailor Venus joins the rest of the Sailor Scouts, Artemis is the cat that Luna talks to secretly, through the computer at the video arcade. Although in the DIC translations when Artemis and Luna final meet the still talk about central control as though there really was one. (DIC screwup.) Artemis had a much easier time than his comrade Luna in training Mina.
Artemis came into the possession of Mina, before the existance of the Sailor Scouts. He gave Mina her transformation pen, so that she could fight the world's evils as Sailor V. Believing that the forces of the Negaverse would return to Earth, Artemis was an important guide to help Luna to find the other Sailor Scouts.
Queen Serenity was the queen of the Moon Kingdom long ago. Her daughter, Princess Serena, was destined to be queen of the Moon Kingdom and preside over the moon and the Earth in peace. However, Queen Beryl and the forces of the Negaverse overran the Earth, and disaster for the Moon Kingdom seemed inevitable. Soon Beryl arrives on the moon with her warriors of the Negaverse. Beryl destroyed the Moon Kingdom, and killed the Sailor Scouts, Princess Serena, Prince Darien, and many others. Realizing that the kingdom was lost, Queen Serenity used the power of the Silver Empyrian Crystal to banish Beryl to another dimension. Using the crystal proves fatal to Serenity, but before she dies she sends the princess, the Sailor Scouts, Prince Darien and cats (Luna and Artemis), to Earth several hundred years into the future (our present day), hoping that they find peace being reborn on the Earth.
Serena's father is a dedicated man, and very supportive of his family. He hasn't the slightest clue that his daughter and her friends are actually superheroes. His Japanese name Kenji. We do not know his English name as of yet.
Serena's mother is a loving homemaker. She doesn't appear to have a job. She thinks her daughter is a big underachiever, and nags her about her grades often. She thinks Serena's behaviour is strange, but hasn't made
any connections between her and Sailor Moon. Her Japanese name is Ikuko, and again an English name is not given as of yet.
Sam is Serena's younger brother. His primary reason for existance, at least as far as the storyline is concerned, is to annoy the heck out of Serena. He doesn't know about Serena being Sailor Moon, despite seeing Sailor Moon at close range on several occasions. If Serena thought that Raye was a pain, she also has to deal with Sammy's pranks as well.
Molly is Serena's classmate and close friend. Generally, when Serena is not out with her Sailor Scout pals (Amy, Raye, Lita and Mina), she usually ends up somewhere with Molly. Molly's mother owns a jewelry store in town, called OSA*P. (derived from her Japanese family name Osaka) She falls in love with Neflyte (aka Maxfield Stanton) during the course of the story. Despite being an important character in the beginning of the story, as time progresses we see less and less of her. For some odd reason, Molly never realizes that Serena is Sailor Moon (you would think she would have guessed it by now, especially after being attacked by all those monsters!).
Melvin is a student in the same class as Molly Baker and Serena. He's easily distinguished by his glasses.
Melvin has definitely had some schemes in school. In the beginning of the series, he wants to go out with Serena, however she refused any attempts by Melvin to become better friends. Later, Melvin tries to begin other relationships, the latest one with Molly Baker. Melvin is a big nerd, and hangs around the internet a lot (although he hasn't made his e-mail address public yet). Despite his nerdy behavior, he's a good guy at heart, and a good (although at times annoying) friend.
Andrew works at the arcade. Serena sees him often when she goes in to play her favorite video game Sailor V. Serena often wishes that Andrew
would ask her on a date. Obviously, Serena has a crush on Andrew. He then becomes the subject of someone else's heart: Lita's. Andrew has a younger sister named Elizabeth.
Ms. Patricia Haruna is Serena's teacher. She is only a very minor character in several episodes. She sometimes falls prey to monsters, but
her primary role is to give Serena trouble for not doing her homework, or for being late.
