2002 Well, winter's almost over now - actually it feels like it never really began. Its been so mild over here, it feels like Vancouver. The real pisser is that I bought new snow tyres this year!! |

Not much is new for me. As I mentioned, I did go away for 2 weekends in February to the hp cabins north of Kingston. They had some snow, so we were able to do some backcountry skiing (though we did it without packs). The first trip was with Lynne, her brother Wilson and his girlfriend Bonnie. The second was with Lynne, Andrew and Nancy.
Valentine's day was real nice. Lynne took me to the Auberge du Pommier on Yonge. The paté de foie (goose liver - i believe) was amazing and it the wine was awesome (a 2000 Sancerre). I dare say it is now my favorite restaurant. Although it is expensive (at least as expensive as Canoe), I found the food better and the location much more convenient.
This month, however, the family is preparing for Wesley's ordination, which is on March 17th. I'll probably be an usher, but other than that and a gift, there really isn't much preparation for me. That's good because I will be in Phoenix the week before. I still cannot believe sometimes that he's the same guy that used to teach me sunday school.
I've also begun preparing for my next set of trips. This year, Lynne and I are planning to go to Banff for a week, where we'll hook up with my brother for some backpacking and climbing. There's also plans in the works to go to Australia with my brother for some backpacking in the outback!! There will also be the usual trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire - I'm looking at backpacking the Great Gulf Rim - and a possible canoe trip in August. Finally, small weekend backpacking trips are also being planned.
Obviously, I spend a great deal of time following the events of the war.
