HOMESTAY

for just £100 per week - on the beautiful Garden Isle. It's perfect for homestay. Just off the south coast of mainland England, the Isle of Wight has some of the most spectacular coastal scenery to be found anywhere in the world. Soaring chalk cliffs and secluded sandy beaches dot this diamond shaped isle. From the cliff tops you can enjoy the sights of the many colourful sails of the yachts that have made this Island one of the World's premier sailing spots. The Fastnet Race ( the toughest yachting event in Europe ) starts and finishes here in the Solent which separates the Island from mainland Britain. Explore some of the secluded coves of the West Wight where smugglers used to ply their trade or enjoy water sports at one of the many sandy beaches that are everywhere on this gem of an Island. Inland there are many country walks to enjoy. Take a stroll along the many bridle paths that criss-cross the Island where you may possibly come across the native red squirrel and are sure to encounter many rural sights to delight the eye. For the more energetic hiker a hike across the central chalk downs will offer breathtaking views on all sides. Explore the tiny villages full of charming thatched cottages and historic Churches. Drop into a Country Pub and enjoy the local hospitality or try one of the many quaint English Tea Rooms. Visit historic Carisbrooke Castle, where King Charles was held prisoner while awaiting his execution and a donkey still draws water from the well in the Central Keep. Don't forget to visit Queen Victoria's favorite home at Osborne House, much of which remains unchanged from her time there. Take in the sights that inspired some of England's literary giants, Alfred Lord Tennyson has a cliff named after him where he used to walk and seek inspiration. The Island towns have many unique shops which give the visitor plenty of browsing. Plus it's only a short 10-15 minute fast ferry ride to the busy cities of Portsmouth and Southampton where modern shopping complexes compete with traditional High Street shops, both cities have England Premiership football teams if you want to try the atmosphere of a big match and both cities have many interesting places to visit too. London is only an extra 90 minutes away by train, take in a show or visit the World's greatest museums. France is 6 hours by ferry if you feel like trying some continental cuisine, many people just go for the day. The Islanders are friendly and the Island is a safe place for homestay. Your homestay host family are carefully chosen and the homes are regularly checked to make sure your homestay is an experience you'll cherish. The possibilities are endless.

Why Homestay?

When you do a homestay you will be living as a member of the host family. Your host family will give you encouragement to practise your language skills and support to help you settle into your new environment. This gives you lots of opportunities to practise the English you've learnt at school plus an insight into the culture of the United Kingdom. As a homestay student you will be invited to join your hosts in doing many things, from the ordinary - - - such as shopping for groceries to the extraordinary - - - such as who knows what! The possibilities are endless.

Upon arrival at the school you will be introduced to your homestay family who will be waiting to greet you. You will also be introduced to the school staff who will assist you and answer your questions.

Your homestay fees are paid directly to the host family. You can pay weekly, monthly or if you wish to you can pay the whole fee at one time.(This is not recommended as you may have to return home sooner than planned and recovering pre-paid fees may prove difficult.)
