Student's Voice

GROUP LESSONS

TOMY group lessons are for a maximum of 4 students unless the lesson is held at the student's home or workplace where any number of students may join the class. Lesson length is 1 hour unless the lesson is held at the student's home or workplace in which case the lesson length may be 1, 1 1/2, or 2 hours. We try to sort groups in level and approximate age categories. Subject matter varies according to the student's needs and/or requests. At present we offer 4 main groups, elementary - pre-intermediate - upper-intermediate - and advanced. We add other lessons as are required. Text books range from "Headway" and "Passport" to "Good For Business".

SEMI-PRIVATE

Semi-private lessons are for 2 or 3 friends who wish to study together regardless of differences in level etc. and do not wish to be put in a group with students they do not know. There is a little more flexibility in semi-private lessons to study at the students' request and for more free conversation. Various textbooks are employed depending on the type of lesson preferred. All lessons at TOMY's Hirakata Classroom are 1 hour in length.

PRIVATE

Private lessons enable the student to have maximum control over lesson content. Most lessons are centered around a textbook chosen by the student and teacher together. Free conversation classes are popular as they allow the students to talk about topics they are interested in. Extra material is used according to the student's needs. A Homestay preparation course is one example, where useful advice and cultural hints are used to help prepare a student who is about to stay and study abroad.
