Tone II

The possibility of Tone II is quite remote.  It seems The Logic Factory abandoned progressing of strategy like games.  In the future (with more free time and some effort) it just might be possible for the Tone fans to construct a Tone II and bring Tone to it's full glory.  This section will be dedicated to the wish list which Tone II should include and to the actual possibility of a Tone II.  Send all "wishes" to my email address.  Full credit for your ideas will be given.

Xenøphanes Wishes (5/25/00):
1.  Tone II should be 3D accelerated much like MythII Soulblighter.

MythII Soulblighter is primarily a 2D gaming engine which has been "beefed up" to allow fog / fire / water / and other special effects using 3D acceleration.  The maps have also been tweaked to allow 3D rendering when compared to the more rudimentary Myth The Fallen Lords.
2.  Tone II should allow gamers to choose the Leviathan as a playable "Tribe".
Seeing the varied and strong Leviathan units just made me drool with the prospect of beating up on others over a network game with Swasps.
3.  Tone II should have 6 "Tribes" to choose from.
These Tribes should be as follows:
  • Tarks
  • Cepheans
  • Zygons
  • Dyla
  • Leviathan
  • New Non-Floater Tribe
4.  Tone II should allow players to expand not only horizontally, but vertically as well.
The side scrolling action of Tone is about as interesting as staring at the same picture for hours and hours.  The islands (or possibly worlds) should appear very different and should rise vertically to take advantage of the floaters "floating" ability.
5.  Tone II should include music specific for each Tribe.
A good example of this is StarCraft / BroodWar.  This game is greatly enhanced with race specific music.  Haunting music tracks for each Tribe would definitely make Tone II competitive and true to the initial Tone spirit.
