Antique Johnson Bros JB197 Porcelain Covered Handled Oval Casserole / Vegetable Bowl
Johnson Bros. of England made this traditional Chinese-style JB197
pattern before World War I, and just before the end of the Ching dynasty, about 1900-1910. It is transferware, on an unusual multi-sided base.
The JB197 pink morning glory and gate pattern goes well with some Chinese and Japanese antiques and some modern simple black banded styles on bone colored background.
The bowl is clearly marked on the bottom with a sage-green crown logo and Johnson Brothers England :
- 11 inches handle to handle.
- 10 x 7-7/8 inches at the widest point.
- 9 x 6-1/8 inches at the rim.
- 4-3/8 inches tall with the lid.
- 2 lbs 2 ounces in total weight.
In excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs, and just a bit of normal wear of the gilt.
