Handicap ?
eyes asking
clumsy hands grasping
in an awkward way
child, youngster, adult
running, in wheelchair, lying
our children
unhappy children ?
I enter the living area,
Nelly jumps up, crowing
tells he story
Will at full length
in his wheelchair
with that real warm grin
Mary very quiet,
hugging her loved bears
Lesley attentive puzzling
Wivine with firm hands
and much splashing
as a real mom at washing-up
Jane, light little feather,
with unsteady hands
tries to fondle Steven
blessed her glance
Gerry welcomes
with an enthusiastic 'hi Toon'
Donald in happy shouts
enjoys regained moving
Kurt eagerly kissing
presently I'll have
to polish my face again.
Our children,
Unhappy children ?
