Baiyoke
Tower 2, also known as Baiyoke Sky Hotel, is currently
the tallest building in Bangkok.
Baiyoke 2 is the first building in
Bangkok to rise taller than 300m. Its development follow
the success of its precursor, the 44 storey Baiyoke
Tower. Baiyoke 2 is one of the first high-rise buildings
in Bangkok which utilised high strength concrete for
construction, it was also at the time completion, the
world's tallest reinforced concrete structure.
Original plans of the tower include
a telecommunication facility on top. The tower planned
to have 94 storeys so that floors 85-94 would be lease
to telecommunication companies wanting to take advantage
of the building's height. The proposed 140m high telecommunication
tower on top of the tower would also stake B2 claim
for world's tallest building title (although any such
claim would be highly contested in the same light as
the Sears vs Petronas
case). A 3D_model

tower in comparison with Petronas, Sears and other world's
tallest skyscrapers.
The Skydeck, located on 75th-77th floors,
provides the best vantage point of this city. Interestingly,
in January 2002 five Norwegian skydivers set world record
for base_jumping
by jumping from the 81st floor of the Baiyoke 2 tower
and landed on the rooftop of the Indra Regent hotel
nearby.
