Draft 2002, Runde 10 - 18, 22.9.2002

Weight: 206 lbs
Birthdate: 1982-11-13
Hometown: Espoo, Finland
Acquired: NJ's 2nd Round Pick(48th) in 2001

Unlike most Finnish players, Pihlman plays a power forward type game, and with his size, he is able to play that style quite effectively. He does not back down from any physical challenge and can throw the body around with the best of them. He has good hands and a better than average shot.

Runde 12, Ruslan Zainullin

A skilled two-way player with a nice blend of size and skill. Zainullan is a great stickhandler and a good skater, although he lacks speed. He possesses a good scoring touch, a deadly shot and the ability to make the tape-to-tape pass to his teammates. He has great hockey sense and is very competitive. Is defensively responsible in his own zone and has the speed to catch players on the backcheck. Is used in all game situations, including the power-play and penalty kill.

At 6'1" 195 he will be able to evolve into a solid two way NHL defenseman. He is a strong forward and backward skater...Strong on his skates, hard to knock off balance...A good transition defenseman, who can move the puck up ice quickly. He plays in all game situations. Has a high skill level and a good understanding of the game. An instense player, he plays the body effectively and is hard to beat one-on-one.

Runde 15, John-Michael Liles

Name: John-Michael Liles
Position: D
Shoots: Left
Height: 5-11
Weight: 185 lbs
Birthdate: 1980-11-25
Hometown: Zionsville, Indiana
Acquired: 2000 NHL Draft, 5th round (159th overall)

"At USA, he was a really solid player," said Ferguson, also Liles' roommate. "Obviously, his skating and puck handling are his two strengths. You knew he was going to be a great player. When he broke out like he did his freshman year, I think it surprised a lot of people. He played with a lot of confidence."
Those skills and confidence led Liles to score 8-20-28 in 40 games as a rookie and lead the Spartan defensemen in scoring. He was an All-CCHA honorable mention as well as a finalist for the CCHA Best Defensive award in his first season. His success continued through his sophomore year when he recorded 7-18-25 in 42 games and was named to the All-CCHA second team.
This season bodes no different for the 2000 Colorado Avalanche fifth-round draft pick. Liles has surpassed those marks with two regular-season games to play before playoffs. So far this season, Liles has been named to the 2001 Great Lakes Invitational All-Tournament Team and CCHA Offensive Player of the Week after recording five assists in a sweep of Ohio State Jan. 25-26

Runde 16, Peter Fabus

Name: Peter Fabus
Position: C
Shoots: Left
Height: 6-1
Weight: 191 lbs
Birthdate: 1979-07-05
Hometown: Slovakia
Acquired: 9th Round (281st Overall), 2000 Draft

"Peter is a tenacious player with touch around the net," Coyotes general manager Cliff Fletcher said. "Down the road, we feel that Peter has the potential to be a solid NHL contributor."

Runde 17, Justin Cox (getradet gegen Willie Levesque)

Name: Justin Cox
Position: RW
Shoots: Right
Height: 5-11
Weight: 160 lbs
Birthdate: 1981-03-13
Hometown: Hinton, ALTA
Acquired: Round 6 #184 overall 1999 NHL Entry Draft

Excellent skater, very quick, improving offense, intense, good penalty killer, budding leadership.
Cox is yet another Stars prospect with both skill and tenacious discpline -- leading the Prince George Cougars in +/- and amassing a healthy number of penalty minutes.

Runde 18, Brad Fast

Name: Brad Fast
Position: D
Shoots:
Height: 6'0
Weight: 187 lbs
Birthdate: 1980-02-21
Hometown: Fort St. John, British Columbia
Acquired: Round 3, Pick #84 Overall in 1999 NHL Entry Draft

Fast plays a well-rounded game. He's a very good skater, who maneuvers well in traffic, and has very good offensive instincts. A good point shot, and an excellent passer. One problem, as per many youngsters, is hit strength. He needs to get stronger, although I don't think it will jeopardize his career.
