SERVICE ACCOMMODATION

Establishments in this category provide services to the customer as well as facilities such as beds and rooms. In Dubai the major segments of this form are hotels and serviced apartments. In Dubai hotels and serviced apartments are given a star rating based on the number of facilties provided. A top international hotel offering every conceivable service would be rated with five or sometimes six stars. Here in Dubai the four and five star hotels cater to many leisure and conference visitors to Dubai. Middle range cheaper establishments with fewer services would be in the three to four star category and budget in the one to two star rating. The one advantage of a star rating is that visitors have some idea of the level of service and quality of the built-environment before they arrive. First-time visitors to Dubai will also be reassured when they see the great variety of chain hotels that ere represented here and also in their home countries.

When you promote your hotels and serviced apartment you will need to decide how you will group them so as to assist the viewer will their decision-making for accommodation. Suggested groups are by:

geographical location (beach, airport, city, desert)

quality standard (5 star, 4 star, 3 star and so on)

chain hotels or independent hotels (Hilton, Le Meridien, Intercontinental, Sheraton)

price range (luxury level, moderate price, budget)

guest activity (leisure resort, business, convention)

NON-SERVICED ACCOMMODATION

Almost all accommodation in Dubai can be categorised as serviced. The one exception that comes to mind is a youth hostel near the Dubai Women's College. Youth hostel generally provide basic accommodation at a low fee. Dubai positions itself more toward higher spending leisure, conference and business markets.

Note: When you promote accommodation choose only a sample of a maximum of 20 accommodation establishments. Hyperlink to their own Web site where possible.
