The wait time on average from when your documents are submitted to China until you receive your referral (placement of a specific child) is about 6.5-7 months.

We submitted our documents to China on March 22, 2005. Our official log in date (LID) - the date the the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs makes your petition to adopt a child "official" is April 13, 2005. This date, in their eyes, is the date that they use to assign a referral. It is likely that we will travel with many other families that have a log in date of April 13, 2005.

**Revised 11/16 - The wait from LID to referral has increased to 8-9 months due to the high volume of adoption applications being sent to China. Our referral, we hope, will now come in December or early January.
