Morning Becomes Eclectic - Transister
Jan 9 1996

Gary - We completely seperately [....] through [....] EMI again actually. I was signed to EMI as a writer [....] At the same time Eric was [....] hooked [....] LA. [....]

Chris - I see.

Gary - [....] would like to work with [....]

~ Chris could you [....] move on the mike?

Chris - Oh sorry. Just get more closer to the mike guys. All aroud the Gaz [....] yeah.

- [....] Yeah

- [....] Ok

Gary - Yes at that time I had a solo recording deal with Virgin Records and Eric came and played on my record and stuff, we just got to be good friends and collobrated on lots of things.

Chris - I see. So Eric is, was kind of the middle man, the point person. And then how did you come together eight-nine weeks ago to write 'Look Who's Perfect Now' together?

Keely - The idea was like, I think it might be yours.

Eric - I brought an idea to Gaz.

Chris - To Gary.

Eric - Yeah and we, Keely and I had been doing some writing and I, Gary and I had been doing some writing..

Keely - [laughs]

Eric - ..seperately.

Chris - So he brought you together. [laughs]

Keely - Yeah.

Eric - And we had a track and I just said "Why don't we try putting Keely on this? Or call actually Keely collobrate on this song with us, lets collobrate with Keely. See what happens with the one song." Gaz was like "Oh just [....] thinking we should work with Keely." So it was just like instant magic, you know.

Chris - So you did this song that we just heard 'Look Who's Perfect Now' and then you have realized [....] something to explore.

Keely - [....] We should do [....] bit more writing and [....]

Chris - [....] Ok. Fantastic and congratulations [....] We gonna hear another one. This one comes again the demos. We'll hear a live performance of it though. This one is called 'Weather Boy.' The band is Transister. Live.

Chris - Its called 'Weather Boy.' That's Transister live in the studio. I'm Chris Douridas and this is a song again comes from a set of six demos provided to the station some three weeks ago. And I should point out that you guys when you came together to write this first song we were talking about earlier, you were based in London and you made one song in London...

Keely - Yes.

Chris - And then you went down to Southern France where Gary, Gary Clark [....] has a, a little, little palace [laughs]

Keely - Lovely palace.

[laughs]

[....]

Keely - It was not really a palace but. So we loved it anyway so [laughs]

Chris - Gary Clark is in here in back [....] vocals, on guitar and Keely Hawkes who is on vocals and Eric Pressly here on bass on this particular track, make up the band Transister. And we are joined by a drummer, Matt Laug who is special guest this morning. And [....] this place you have in Southern France is where you've made the rest of the demos then right?

Eric - [....]

Gary - No [....] how about basically. I live in London on an basement [....] I got a 24-track studio [....] in there.

Chris - I see.

Gary - But the place in France basically just a lovely atmosphere to sit and write. You know when you go there [....] Basically any excuse I can find to go there I go. And Eric needed to leave the country to get some workpaper stamped.

Keely - Any excuse [laughs]

Chris - Some what?

Gary - [....] workpaper [....]?

Chris - Workpapers!

Gary - Ok. Eric [....] leave the country [....] on my own will.

Gary - [....] Yes all kinds of things together went on nicely. We drunk red wine and wrote songs.

Chris - I see. So bulk of the writing took place in Southern France.

Gary - That's right yeah.
