Morning Becomes Eclectic - Transister
Jan 9 1996
Chris - Is he your older brother, younger brother?
Keely - Yeah there is really 18 month between us. A bit older [....]
than me so.
Chris - Ah! Ok. And your father. Your father was in a band called
Tremeloes.
Keely - Yeah it was a big sixties band in also all over Europe.
I think he might have some hits here as well but same thing not
as huge as it was in Europe. They had about fifteen hits.
Chris - That [....] was [....] one [....] in sixties?
Keely - In the sixties yeah.
Chris - Yeah ok. I've looking for some [....] stuff.
Keely - Yeah you were looking around I found it here [....] I got
some for you.
Chris - I [....] ask you about that. I've run it some [....] that
band, The Tremeloes yeah?
Keely - Oh! Have you ? [....]
Chris - But, Err [....] so the plan is to move all to LA then.
Keely - Yes we gonna spend some time here.
Chris - Well you've been here now for a couple of weeks and I know
that you've tried kind of getting the writing together again because
you did the writing in Southern France as we pointed out earlier..
Eric - [....]
Chris - ..just a several weeks ago and you've written a new song
here in LA..
Eric - That's right.
Chris - ..that you brought with you this morning song.. [....]
I think you [....] say the name of the song, Keely.
Keely - [laughs] Yeah this one is 'Water.'
Chris - 'Water.' Transister live.
21:00
4- 'Water'
25 :10
Chris - If you hear [....] There is phone ringing there in the
studio.
Keely - Yeah [laughs]
[laughs]
Chris - Simply nice time [....] one more time. Will not be called.
I'll took the phone out of the cord cause [....]
Chris - [....] less is more.
[....]
Chris - That's a new song from Transister. They have joined us
in the studio. Keely Hawkes on vocals, Eric Pressly on guitars and
back-up vocals, Gary Clark guitar and back-up vocals. and Special
guest Matt Laug taking care of a percussion. I should point out
that Matt got a [....] very unique drum kit.
Keely : Very strange setup.
Eric - He is a strange boy.
Keely - [laughs]
Chris - It's a biscuit tan. It's not the normal snare. It's [....]
literally [....] yeah it's a cookie tan overturned docktaped to
a snare tan right? And you've played it so much that with these
brushes that metal brushes, you've even bost the back of it toward.
[....] looks like a still drum. And so, sorry?
- Yamaha [....]
Chris - And he's got a tambourine taped to its foot right so [....]
obviously you got enough [....] play everything [....] as used as
it does.
Keely - He is the one-man band. He looks like it doesn't he?
Chris - Yeah it sounds great too. So this is the first in the studio,
we haven't had biscuit tan in the studio. The band the name Transister.
We've already pointed out that history of the band goes back about
eight weeks. The song writing took [....] the vocal at that time
[....] you guys recorded, the song writing took a week right?
Eric - That's right. Five days!
Keely - Five days! [laughs]
[laughs]
Chris - Oh excuse me [....]
Eric - We were flying. We had flying. [....]
Chris - Ok ok. And then [....] both [....] the rest of time was
put toward recording the songs. And what points of the process you
guys come with the name to the band?
