Paris

April 2004

10 April    9:20pm

Today's weather was beautiful. Sunny with a few white clouds, not too chilly or windy like yesterday. We started off the day by going to the Louvre. We must have really lucked out. We hardly waited in line. (which was quite a blessing, considering we overslept by 1 1/2 hrs.) Inside the Louvre we visited one of the three wings. We did see a lot of sculptures, including the Venus de Milo. We passed through various Roman busts to which my old Roman Art History professor would have been happy. We meandered around until we reached the Mona Lisa. We did a bit more meandering until we were outside, and then began our walk to the Arc de Triomphe. We made a few stops along the way at the Place de la Concorde and along the Champs - Elysee. We got to the Arc de Triomphe and decided to get onto one of the city tour buses and relax on the bus until it made its way back to our area. The closest stop was Notre Dame, so we got a quick preview of it befor eheading back to the hotel.

For dinner, we ate at Bouillon Racine, which had absolutely delicious food. It's a Belgian restaurant with not many vegetarian choices. I did get the only vegetable platter, where as my father got a steak. So far it's the only meal he truly thought was exceptional - which is very rare. We ended up staying for dessert, where I treated myself to some ice cream - incredibly tasty. Tomorrow shall be a busy day - hopefully will include Moulin Rouge, Sacre-Coeur and Versailles.

I thank my father for coming on the trip with me. It was a wonderful experience.
