This entry will take me a while because I'm also watching the finals snooker game. Whte versus Paul Hunter. (yay Hunter! Have I said yet that he looks like Jason Mewes' long-lost twin? He does!) The game's a close one, but you're not reading this to hear about my thoughts on the game. Today we took the tour bus up to the Opera House and then walked up to Moulin Rouge. That was fun. Upon reflection, I wonder if the road we took was the one from the movie. We thought briefly of seeing a show, but the cheapest for dinner and a show was 130 Euros per person. We said "Hells no!" and made our way over to Sacre Coeur. The road over started off pretty, er, interesting. The strip consisted of peep shows and sex shops - pretty awkward walking past them with yer father.
We made it to Sacre Coeur but didn't go in because it was packed! Perhaps was worse than usual because it was Easter Sunday, but I'll never know for certain. We next made our way through the metro to the RER to go to Versailles. There, while waiting for the RER, we "met" scary/stalker guy. This guy looked very disturbing and would stare at me whenever I looked his way. He also followed us whereever we went. (I tested this out by walking up and down the platform...lo and behold, he was always somewhere close to us). When the train came we rushed to the front car, where I caught him running towards it as well. At the last moment, after he got on the 1st car, my father and I darted to the 2nd car. Mwa hah!! Foiled him! He may not have been intentionally trying to stalk us, but he sure as hell was creepy.
We got to Versailles at about 2pm-ish. When we reached the palace, we saw lines that were excruciatingly long, to go inside the palace. Not wanting to wait for 3+ hours, we went to the gardins instead. Man, were they beautiful. I kept thinking how incredile it would have been living at Versailles. We saw a bride and a groom, I'm assuming just married. Can you imagine having a wedding at Versaille? Or getting your photos done there? wow! Tha twould be fantastic - great photos, eh? (But I guess on the flip end, there'd be too many random pedestrians). We strolled through the gardins, admired the statues and fountains and then hit a few shops along the street. We picked up a few mugs, because, well I want to continue a collection of mugs from palces I've been to. We stopped by a very nice place and picked up a crystal statue of two birds (VERY BEAUTIFUL) for my mom. After that we headed back to the hotel. Rested then ate dinner at a creperie off of St. Michael's Blvd. The food was adequate, nothing exceptional. Tomorrow shall be our last full day in Paris. I'm kinda sad, but I'm hoping to get much shopping done since our day is pretty light. A bientot!
