Ninety-Six, South Carolina

National Historic Site

Ninety Six National Historical Park is about 12 miles from Greenwood, and dates back to before the French and Indian War. Each spring they hold an encampment and here are some pictures.

View from the American lines of the trenches approaching the Star Fort. The tower on the right held American sharpshooters during the American Revolution. The Americans held the British underseige forced to retreat by the news of British reinforcements. Several weeks later, the British evacuated the fort, never to return.
