Personality and comments:
Lou is a walking paradox: laid back on duty and prude-ish off it. He’s too polite sometimes, reinforcing his friends beliefs that "nice guys (like Lou) finish last." His most recent girlfriend commented, "guys like Lou come around once in a lifetime. I held him off as long as I could before dating him. I needed to get all of the jerks out the way first."

The same girlfriend also said of Lou, "Louie’s humor was only exceeded by his love of his family. He grew surrounded by 4 sisters, so he understands the female psyche about as well as every other male, ie not at all. But still, it was so cute watching him try."

An artistic soul, Lou had been known to draw and practice his saxophone for hours on end. He once went a few days without sleeping because he was so into a work of his. The young lady didn’t seem to mind. It was her portrait.

History:
Lou, better known as Louie to his friends, learned at a very young age that you catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar. Because of it, he’s worked very hard at making himself one of the most polite people around. His parents and all of their friends complimented him on his pleasant attitude, but all of this came at a price. All through his younger grades, he would get picked on and be made to feel inferior. It caused him to bottle up much of his fear and insecurities, but unfortunately, he would lash out at those around him when it got to its worst.

Introverted and shy in public, he rededicated himself to his studies and excelled in most every subject, except when pushed to his limits. His studies suffered until he picked up three very creative disciplines: art, music, and exercise. By working on his relaxation techniques, he found he was better able to control his outbursts in school.

Louie entered the academy with a honed mind and body, but something was missing. The more he studied, the more he felt something was missing. He had been doing his martial arts every day, but he still needed an outlet for his energies. He took up painting, and then quickly he took up charcoal drawing. Shortly thereafter, Louie was working through all of his studies, drawing, painting and playing an instrument, plus his martial arts.

As he finished his penultimate year in the academy, he had the mind of an officer, the ability to play music like a gentleman, but he was still looking for something else, or more specifically, someone else. In this case though, she found him. As a part of his training program, he was required to study under a pilot trainer. Her name was Shiri. Her piloting skills were bar-none, better than par for the course, but it was her interest in him that interested him more, and it was that which kept him returning. They dated for the better part of that next to last and final years, and as they were both approaching graduation, she decided to visit her friends, Ahava and Chaya Reckage , on board Space Station Mars One. Unfortunately for all involved, it was at that time that two Romulan vessels collided with the station, killing all aboard. She was lost to him forever.

Louie finished his last month or so of his final year at the academy as if he’d been through the emotional ringer. He saw counselor after counselor, and therapist after therapist, but the only thing that would bring him even one moment of solace was looking at her face in his artistry.

A month following graduation, he was transferred aboard the USS Calypso as Operations Manager.

Career:

<WHATEVER TODAY’S STARDATE IS>: Transferred aboard USS Calypso, Operations Manager
