Whether you are interested in earning an AKC/SchH/IPO
title or just want something fun to do with your dog, this workshop can
get you started in tracking. Each workshop will combine theory and
practice on how to train motivationally, so bring a very hungry dog or
puppy and its favorite (soft) treats! The workshop will address how to lay
tracks, read your dog, handle the line, and plan training sessions. One
workshop will get you started and give you a basic understanding of the
challenges in training an accurate tracking dog.
Anne Rammelsberg has trained two different
Dobermans from puppies to UDC National Tracking Trial Champions. Her
current sport dog is the 2003 UDC National Tracking Trial Champion, has an
FH1, has earned a 99/100 in SchH3 tracking, and is training for FH2. At 5
months, her Belgian Malinois puppy is negotiating tracks with changes in
cover, turns, and articles. She has guided many individuals in using motivational methods for training dogs. Anne is an Associate Professor in
Chemistry at Millikin University.
NOTE: Entry is limited to 10 working dogs. Working
spots will be assigned on a first paid basis. Tracking will take place
under park lighting.
IMPORTANT: Dogs should be on leash at all times.
You will be expected to pick up after your pet, so be prepared. Don’t
forget to bring water.
