Activities Welcome to Fuerteventura, the second largest, least commercialised island in the Canaries. This is a desert island paradise with miles of unspoilt, tropical white sandy beaches and clear turquoise sea for those seeking a totally relaxed, lazy beach holiday. For those who prefer a more active lifestyle, you can indulge in the various water sports and activities the island has to offer including wind surfing, jet skiing, camel trekking and golf. The summer Trade Winds and winter swells of the Atlantic make this a year-round surfers' paradise. Sailors, surfers, scuba divers and big game fishermen are all drawn to these clear blue Atlantic waters where whales, dolphins, marlin and turtles are all common sights. Fuerteventura offers plenty of adventure. Here you can go swimming with dolphins, kitesurfing, explore beautiful blue lagoons and volcanic hills…or just lie back and soak up the sun on some of the best beaches in the world. There is a Zoo safari at La Lajita, a small fishing village - with black sandy beaches, the village is a lovely day out in itself as it is gorgeous. But the Zoo Safari is a brilliant day out too. With over 200 species of birds, monkeys, lizards and crocodiles plus many more. The island's colourful past can be traced in a variety of ancient buildings, monuments, archaeological sites and museums, these are well worth a visit and are easily accessible on the island. |
