True Story

••The "Holy Bible" - Song: Living Proof - Fill Me Lord

I had a really wild experience "or testimonial" I want to share with you about last Sunday. I guess depending on one's perspective one might not think much of it other than coincidental, but based on my circumstances, I consider and believe it to be divine. It's a bit lengthy so read it when you have a moment or two.

Just a little background before I explain what happened. As you know, my family and I have been to Gateway before when you were located in downtown Fuquay and music was performed by Refuge. We enjoyed it at the time but it did not seem to fit all of our age groups. I knew that in my heart when I found the right ministry for us, I would just know. Since that time we (specifically Josh and me) had gone to several other ministries including New Horizons. I was impressed with New Horizons and we as a family had gone a few or more times but I did not feel it was exactly what I was searching for in my heart. Josh and I went to a couple other places but they did not feel right. I had mentioned to Susan about going back to New Horizons but after what she viewed as my indecisiveness she was reluctant. She would not go back to New Horizon or to any other ministry until she felt that I have found what I was searching for.

The morning that Josh and I came to your service two Sunday's ago, we were actually leaving the house to try a Church in downtown Fuquay when Susan mentioned that I should try Gateway again. I knew the ministry had moved but did not know it was so close to us until Susan told me where you were located. She had just learned of your new location a couple of days ago from a neighbor  I was very excited with what I found when I came to your service. A strong feeling of fellowship and belonging for ALL age groups and greetings with such sincerity and warmth. Josh actually wanted to attend the youth group that evening. I couldn't believe it!

This past Sunday after service was over, we were leaving the parking lot when I asked Susan what she thought about the new Gateway. She proceeded to say that I was not going to believe what I was about to hear. She told me that after seeing how excited Josh and I were about Gateway the previous Sunday, she was thrilled, but still needed to be sure. That following Thursday, she pulled out the Bible. After blowing off the dust, she was going to ask "Is This The Right Church?". She intended to close her eyes, open the Bible and point to what she had hoped would be the answer. That's not the way it worked for her. When she opened the Bible she noticed the bookmarker between the pages. The bookmarker was filled with questions for various situations and where to go in the Bible for the answer. Her question was not on the bookmarker. She noticed
one about "If Thinking of Investments and Returns" and felt that it seemed the most appropriate since I was looking for a ministry to invest our spiritual growth. It said to read Mark 10:17-31

She told me she could not believe it when you said to turn to Mark Chapter 10. She thought "OK, I got your message but is he going to read verses 17-31". When you began reading verse 17, that was all the proof she needed to hear. She wanted to say something to me right then but restrained herself. When we arrived home, I rushed ahead of everyone else and immediately pulled out the Bible and found the bookmarker on the chapter and verses you had just read during service. I was in awe the rest of the day, and still am. I truly believe that God has personally spoken to us.

BTW, Josh told me something today which I never heard him say before which enlightened my heart. "Church is cool!" Praise God!

With our Christian Love,
David and Susan
