Why Is Faith Important?

1) Need faith to be saved!

Eph 2:8-9 - 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJ)

Rom 10:8-10 - 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (NKJ)

Rom 4:4-5 - 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, (NKJ)

Rom 5:1 - 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (NKJ)

Gal 2:16 - 16 "knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. (NKJ)

2) Need faith for sanctification!

Acts 26:18 - 18 `to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' (NKJ)

3) Need faith to please God!

Heb 11:6 - 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJ)

4) The just shall live by faith!

Gal 3:11 - But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." (NKJ}

Rom 1:17 - 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (NKJ)

2 Cor 5:6-7 - 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. (NKJ)

Matt 4:4 - 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" (the spoken word of God) (NKJ)

Gal 2:20 - 20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (NKJ)

Gal 3:8 - 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." (NKJ)

5) We inherit the promises of God through faith!

Heb 6:11-12 - 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (NKJ)

6) The Righteousness of God is Revealed through faith!

Rom 1:16-17 - 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (NKJ)

7) We cannot enter into God’s rest, except through faith!

Heb 3:18-4:3 - And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest," although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. NKJV

Eph 6:16 - above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. NKJV

9) What ever is not of faith is sin!

Rom 14:22-23 - 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. NKJV

10) Christ dwells in our hearts through faith!

Eph 3:17 -   that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; NKJV
