Controlling light. 2 lighting effects on this 30 piece porcelain nativity. Upholstry fabric skirt is satin brocade. Creates a backup halo to the pastel colors in nativity set. The pieces on the skirt look soft and blend together because of the soft shine and light colors underneath them. This blending effect would not happen if the skirt had more or less shine. Note how holy family on tree top, the birds, and cherubs jump forward. The dark no reflection surface of the tree limbs make the lines very sharp. There is no difference in the porcelain or the fired on colors of the figures. Peppers & Pine gets extra color boost from brilliant blue sarape tree skirt next to red chili pepper lights. Santa in cocked sombrero, as well as tree top. 3 foot Alice doll puts ''wonder'' in Wonderland tree. Lighthouse instead of star toppers big with sea theme trees. Tree left has a rotating lamp working lighthouse. Tree right has a 3-D stained glass model of a lighthouse. Both have fishnet garlands. Treetop Bullseye! Dark velvet riding cap. It doesn't reflect light. It isn't easy to see. What is it? a very powerful memorial to one of the little patients who did alot of therapy horseback. Trueman Cobia died in 2003 age 13. The little hat has been hung up for the last time above all the happy memories of riding. Grabs the viewers' emotions the instant they realize this is a dedication to what the child loved, and how he was loved. Note the horseshoes turned up for good luck. There are little embroidered pillows lettered - Horse lover is a sign of a stable mind, and When in doubt, let your horse do the thinking. Cat-Tastrophe topper bending the tree into a hook shape. Testimony to what an active cat can do for the holiday decor. A person's hobby makes a great theme tree. This is neighbors memorial tree for the lady who took care of stray cats. Christmas at the Royal Court succeeds in limited space when display is more important than tree. 3 foot figures from the book are all visible on this batting covered step display. This many lame'-dressed characters would look cluttered on a level surface. Tree is background for display. All the ornaments reflect light. Bulbs are larger than 6''. If you have a couple $1,000 in the budget - this is how to use it. Christmas to Epiphany is another high color/high reflection tree. This tree bid over $10K at auction. It is a far better example of how the decorator should treat the displayer. The decorators were very careful and courteous to the buyer. They kept the original id tags on the Radko ornaments. (See the sources page for how expensive these top-of-the-line glass ornaments get.) Each of the 12 Days music boxes are carefully labeled and displayed at different levels so you can clearly see them. Also, the decorator is not using the normal Festival delivery. They're personally delivering this tree to ensure there is no damage. Blue and orange work very well together when turquoise and copper range is used. Ancient Voices decorated in sandpainting colors, sepia photo of 19th century Indians, and wickiup topper This creche is geat example of the absolutely unique results of a group effort. Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers members hand made these 22 folk art figures. I mean hand made! I counted 2 dozen finishing cuts on the donkey's flank alone. Each one of a kind. Use your international community. Check the perfect balance of color, light vs. dark, object placement, etc on Meri Kurisumasu. It wishes goodwill between U.S. Korea, Japan, and China. I loved the 26'' Geisha strolling across the wooden bridge in this display Use your local talent! The Zimmermans are well known for their Elves Themselves series. Notice how tight the joins are on the 6 foot German music box they are mounted on. Alot of craftmanship from 3 seperate local companies went into this full motion display Local tire company supplied the 10'' innertubes the dolls are sledding down the tree with. Items unique to area make good ornaments.
