ABOUT
Four years ago, at
Sunnyvale Baylands Park, in conjunction with Silicon Valley Tsinghua
Network (SVTN, tsinghua@yahoogroups.com,
www.tsinghua.net)
annual reunion picnic, SVTN officers and organizers from Volleyball
Fremont started this volleyball tournament. Since then, it becomes
an annual event. Team CNetwork, Stanford Chinese, Tsinghua Network
were the Champions in the past 3 years, while team Volleyball Fremont,
Eureka Club, Nankai Alumni Association, Tianda Alumni, Dida etc.
teams also won trophers or happily joined the events and had great
fun!
TsingHua Cup
Volleyball Tournament is then followed by other two major events
in the Chinese communities: Joint Alumni Associations picnic (August)
and GuoQing Celebration (September), which led to the Joint Alumni
Associations Volleyball Tournamnet and the GuoQing Cup Volleyball
Tournament. Tsinghua Network started and organized GuoQing Cup Volleyball
Tournament for Chinese communities in 2002 and 2003, and also
organized the Joint Alumni Associations Volleyball in 2003. These
3 volleyball tournaments served up to 20 volleyball teams each time,
and are well-recognized by the Silicon Valley Chinese communities.
WHEN AND WHERE
04/24/20004 Saturday,
at BaylandsPark grassland, close to intersection of Lawrence/Carribean
and Hwy-237, Sunnyvale, CA.
TEAM
AND LEVEL
(1) The tournament is
Co-ed playing: 5-men-and-1-woman while femal-touch rule is NOT required.
(2) The tournament is non-professional, recreational or at most
intermediate competitiveness level.
(3) The tournament expects 8-12 teams.
TO
WIN A MATCH
Scoring will be ralley
scoring to 15 points with no cap. 2 sets each match, in case of
1:1 tie, count the points of each set. This rule could be changed
based on number of teams or available game time.
REFEREE
Each team presents 1-2
referees.
REGISTRATION
(Closed)
(1) Registration fee:
will be discussed after registration.
(2) Registration deadline: Friday, April 9th, or all positions filled.
(3) Registration rules: one player only play for one team. Team
roster will be handed in by April 15th.

Announcement
and Rules
By the time of 11:40pm
on Sunday 04/11, we have 12 teams (see below) registered for the
tournament. We stop the registration from now on.
The tournament will
be held on Sat. 04/24 in Bayland park starting from 11:00am and
the
expectable finishing at 5:30pm including one hour lunch break.
The detailed scheduling
will be sent out on Friday 04/16.
12 teams will be devided into 3 groups. Group matches will
be round-robin. Each match
has two games with 20 points (22 cap) per game. Semi-final
and final matches have two
games for each match with 25 points (27 cap) per game. The
detailed description will be
sent out on Friday 04/16.
The team roster will
be handed in by Friday 04/16. The followings are the rules:
1. Players are non-professional players.
2. Non-Asian players are not allowed for this tournament.
3. One player only play for one team. Please make sure that your
team players are not on other team's roster.
4. On site players should be the players whose names are on this
team roster.
5. Each team has as many as 12 team players.
6. Team roster can't be changed after Friday 04/16.
Any violation of the rules will result in penalty on both the player
and the team. The detailed rules will be sent out on Friday 04/16.
