Dear Sir
I have at length obtained the affidavid of
Thos Davis touching the enlistment and services of
Charles Davis - also the statements on oath of
Hannah Davis in which, among this matter,
will be found the heirs of Charles Davis -
with the letters of Wm Gordon and Johnson are herewith
transmitted - you will find the statement of Thos Davis
as to his service - and the army roll in
Gordon's letter to correspond. The statement of
Davis is a inclosure as to the length of service
he served. If you find the heirs are entitled
to bounty land either from the State of Virginia
or the widow is entitled to sd as relict
you could not serve a more worthy claimants
and be so kind as to urge their claim to the
utmost - Respectfully yours
