Another great Photo by Randy Davis, Wills Cem. Cass County, Missouri. Grave Stone is inscribed
ELIZABETH
WIFE OF
ELIJAH
DAVIS
1822 - 1905
Elizabeth (Shoopman)Davis was the daughter of William W Shoopman. Elizabeth may have been born in 1819* in Tennessee.(Gravestone reads 1822.) Four souces for year she was born are, 1 Gravestone - 1822, 2 Affidavid she signed or wrote in Aug 1837 for her marriage to Elijah Davis that she was 18 Years Old, 3 1850 Census, Dec of 1850 showing her age as 31, and 4 1860 Census, Jun of 1860 showing her age as 38. The Census has been known to be wrong in detail. Two prime considerations should be Grave Stone and Marriage Note and surprisingly grave stones are also in error from time to time more so on year of birth than year of death. There was a family group sheet that shows ca 1919 as well. She married Elijah Davis 23 Aug 1837 in Cass County, Illinois. She probably was still living in Cass County, Missouri untill 1905. She died that year and was buried in Wills Cemetery where her husband Elijah was buried.
