Winney Davis wife of Jacob Shoopman, born about 1810 in Jessamine Co., Ky and died 3 May 1872.
Winney Davis born 1810 in Ky, married Jacob Shoopman 3 Mar 1836 in Morgan Co, IL. He was born in Tn. Marriage date source is Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763 - 1900. They both are buried in Clark Cem., Cass Co, IL in the vicinity of Virginia, IL. Jacob Shoopman died 2 Feb 1887. Source is tombstone listing of Clark Cem., Cass Co., IL. The 1860 census for Cass Co., IL lists her age as 45 but I think the tombstone calculation is correct she was born in 1810. Notice the December 1850 Census list her as age 41 placing her year of birth as 1810. She was born in Kentucky as shown on the same 1860 census. Winney Shoopman was a Davis before she married Jacob Shoopman and the fact that she was James B Davis daughter was discovered by Mr. Randy Davis and Mrs. Carol Orwig descendants of James B Davis doing research on the family. James B Davis is listed in their household on the 1860 Census. I think Mrs. Orwig found a family group sheet for either Jacob Shoopman or his dad or Winney Davis that had some information, and other information was taken from tombstones in Clark Cemetery. The family members listed on this page are probably not complete as it was taken from the list of family on the 1860 Census for Cass County, Illinois.

James B Davis was listed on the 1860 census for Cass County, IL as living in Jacob and Winney Shoopman's household. A cascade of future discovery ensued after the previous discovery of James B Davis correct year of birth from both census lists and this to point to Charles E Davis of Jessamine County, Kentucky being James B Davis father and Hannah Gaines his mother -- no small coincidence in repeat of name Winney or Winny as her Grandmother was Winney Hawkins and her grandfather was John Hawkins. I think that John Hawkins and wife Winney Hawkins were aquainted with Charles Davis and Hannah Gaines in Jessamine County, Kentucky due to the court deposition Hannah gave after Charles died about land bounty entitlement and pension entitlement for service in Revolutionary War. Hannah had stated that Charles Davis her husband had given power of attorney to John Hawkins to collect the arrears of Charles Davis pension due from state of Virginia on John Hawkins trip there. Charles Davis died however before John Hawkins returned and she never heard any more of the status per her deposition in Jessamine County, Kentucky court. John and Winney Hawkins had moved to Henry County, Kentucky by 1820 and John was from Virginia. He wrote his will and it was read in Henry County about 1824. His will named his daughter Elizabeth Davis wife of James Davis. John and Winney Hawkins were living in Jessamine County in 1810 but had moved to Henry County Kentucky prior to the 1820 census. Mr. Feaster who provided this information on John and Winney said John was from Culpepper county. This is same county Charles E Davis lived in and he married Hannah Gaines there in 1783 and his pension papers show him as a resident there as late as 1789. Hannah's statement after Charles Davis died was that they moved to Jessamine County in 1796, thirteen years after they married in Culpepper Co, VA.
