This sports bar and grill, Where Good Friends Meet, is located across from the Gretna Ferry Landing. The food is better than what you would expect from it's surrondings. I have eaten almost everything on the menu and have never had a bad meal. The best of the appetizers would be the Chicken Wings. They would be better if they have Buffalo Sauce added to them. The nachos are good but they tend to fill you up. This is not good because you always get a large portion. The hamburger, which may be the best on the Westbank, is 10oz in size. They do an excellent job of cooking your hamburger. The meat could use some seasoning. Any of the seafood dishes are an excellent choice. One of my favorite dishes is the Hamburger Steak. This is 16oz (1lb) of ground meat, cooked to your liking, topped witha mushroom gravy. If you can finish this, you will not need to eat for a couple of days. You would be hard pressed to find the quality of food at the prices that you are charged.
So why is the place empty most of the times I have been there. The service is some of the worst service on the Westbank. You will not attract good quality servers if you do not have a decent clientele. At times when there are a few tables in the restaurant, the tiome it takes to get your food greatly increases.
Another problem is the hours that the Clover Club is open. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday they open at 4:00pm. On Sundays, they open at noon. They are closed on Wednesday.
I feel that they are missing the boat by not being open for lunch. With the Court House just aropund the corner, they would do a great lunch business. |
