Derive is a Mathematical Assistant by Soft Warehouse,

derive is a program that is used in several mathematics' operations like:
Simplifying expression
solving equations
Factoring
Plotting (Drawing curves and functions)
Differentiating
Integrating
Limits
Matrices
Vectors
And lots of other things i don't know because i don't use them.
the only thing that makes me angry
is that he gets the results directly without steps ( Bad for lazy guys)
so you can't use it to solve the 500 integration problems in the sheet,
you can only use it to check your answer and even this could not be too
good because it get the result simplified.
The other thing is in plotting,
it can plot all functions, zoom in and out but you only use arrows to move
through the plotting area ( no mouse) and zooming is centered means that
you cannot "Scroll" the function or right. If you don't understand then
try it and you will understand.
Plotting a function:
1- Run the program ( derive.exe)
2- If every thing is Ok, you will find a blue screen and a smaller green section where many words are displayed, the word "Author" must be selected or else press space or backspace until it becomes violet, then press Enter.
3- All the words disappear and then you will find: Author expression: where you write sin(x). and press enter.
4- the program returns for the previous window but now in the blue screen you will find 1- SIN (X) filled with green, press p you will find the axis drawn but no functions, press p again and here we go then sine function is here. F9 and F10 are used for zooming in and out, to go back select Algebra and press Enter
note that you can modify the colors in the program especially if you get it from someone how use it frequently, any way these are the default colors, don't be surprised if you find them changed...
Funny Huh? you can discover the program by yourself if you are familiar with such dos programs (MS-Dos, Win3.11) but if you are used to Windows then get used to Dos programs or get a newer version from www.derive.com for many dollars if you have a credit card and you dare to use it on the net ( I don't have one and if i had i wouldn't dare to use it but i am used to this old stuff ;-) ).
Oh i forgot to tell how to quit, Piece of cake! Press q a message in red says abandon expressions means do you want to save the changes press y for yes if you want to and if you know how to save the changes or press n after you write functions in a piece of paper.
For more information's check the site, ask you friend
or even your math's doctors, or ask me on my E-Mail. Easy? Ok...
(Note: the help file within this package is damaged
or does not work so if you see it important, (I
do) then get the entire program from a friend or from the site, i don't
have time to do so... )
I am really interested in designing such programs (Under
windows ) so if you know how these things work i will be very happy to
have your advice...
Here is the program download it and use winzip to extract it and then run it (Don't forget to scan it because you cannot trust any one these days ;-) )
