Interview

This Interview was conduted on March 11,2003 with Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan

T.W.W.A. - What is your fondest memory? Hacksaw - My Most Fondest Memory is Wrestling Andre The Giant in Madison Square Garden to a Sell Out Crowd. That is a goal that I have strived to achieve.

T.W.W.A. - What are your feelings on the world of pro wrestling today?

Hacksaw - Wrestling used to be on television now it’s a television show about wrestling. It’s like Baywatch but instead of Lifeguards and swimmers, Wrestling has wrestlers in the ring.

T.W.W.A. - What was your worst in ring injury?

Hacksaw - I ruptured a tendent, Which I was out for 8 months. I also had a head injury that almost killed me. Injuries are a main problem especially knees, ankles, elbows,And back injuries

T.W.W.A. - Who were your favorites growing up?

Hacksaw - Brusier Browdy, I was more of a football fan when I was growing up.

T.W.W.A. - Who was your favorite opponents while in the WWF & WCW?

Hacksaw - I enjoyed wrestling Ted Dibiase. I wrestled him a lot more than anyone else.Ted And I always had good matches. But Andre the Giant was the Biggest Thrill. As far as WCW Steve Austin because he was a chicken of me. He kept on running around the ring, because he is yellow.I’m not a woman so he couldn’t beat me up.

T.W.W.A. - What advice would you give to someone who is considering jumping into the wrestling business?

Hacksaw - What I would tell someone who is just getting in the wrestling business is follow your dreams and do something that you always wanted to do, but give yourself a time frame and always have something to fall back on. What happens a lot is a lot of kids getting in our wrestling business they don’t realize There are 1500 NFL players this year, there are 1000 NBA players this year and only 100 wrestlers. It’s TV, it’s actually more competitive. The odds of making it is more that 1,000,000 to 1. So go ahead and chase your dreams and try to succeed, but make sure you have a back up plan.

T.W.W.A. - Who trained you to become a professional Wrestler?

Hacksaw - Fritz Von Erich in Dallas, Tx

T.W.W.A. - What does your family think of your involvement in professional wrestling?

Hacksaw - My family always have been very supportive with whatever I have done. They’ve enjoyed the Professional Wrestling ride as much as I have.

T.W.W.A. - Do you have any other hobbies besides wrestling?

Hacksaw - Yes, I like to Hunt, Fish, Golf and most of all I enjoy spending time with my 2 little girls and of course my wife of 18 years. There are always horror stories about Professional Wrestling, But for every Tony Atlas horror story there are a lot of success stories about guys who saved their money and who are still married to their first wife, but love their families and don’t do drugs.

T.W.W.A. - Do you ever dream of a different career?

Hacksaw - I always wanted to be a fireman. I thought it would be exciting Job.

This Interview with Animal from Legion of Doom (Road Warriors) was done on March 4,2003.

Animal from Legion of Doom (Road Warriors)

T.W.W.A. - What are your feelings on the world of Professional Wrestling today?

Animal - Pro Wrestling is perplexed in a way. The Wrestling business always worked as Good Guy, Bad Guy philosophy. Some things that are happening in wrestling today should have no business in wrestling today what so ever.

T.W.W.A. - What advise would you give to someone who is considering jumping in the wrestling business?

Animal - Do your homework, Study your craft before you get into the wrestling business. The Wrestling business is hard to get into. Right now with 1 promoter and your at his mercy to do what he wants you to do. He doesn’t do everything right himself. Look at his Tag Team Division it is horrible at best. To be in the wrestling business you must have attitude, perseverance, and do your homework.

T.W.W.A. - What was your worst ring injury?

Animal - The Warlord landed on my head, my eyeball popped out and popped back in and I had to get surgery done to fix the problem. I also had a skull fracture, Cheek fracture, and a broken nose.

T.W.W.A. - Who were your favorite opponents in the W.F.?

Animal - We wrestled a lot of good Guys. Daley Boy Smith and Owen Hart loved the wrestling business. Jim Neidhart and Bret the Hitman Hart were also fun to work with They never gave us enough time to wrestle and they wouldn’t let us do a program with them. It would have been good good money for the company and for them too. All the guys are fun to wrestle.

T.W.W.A. - Has anything embarrassing ever happen to you in the ring?

Animal - I was ready to jump over the top rope and my spike hit the top rope and I flipped over and landed on my back. I tried to sit up real quick and the spikes hit the bottom rope and flung me back down.

T.W.W.A. - Do you have any other hobbies besides wrestling?

Animal - I’m a coach for 15 years where I live my kids play football, hockey and my daughter plays softball. I’m very active in my community. A new hobby me and Hawk do is a lot of Christian Wrestling on the weekends. We speak at Churches & Testimonies at churches. We do positive motivational speaking.

T.W.W.A. - What’s your thoughts on young kids and Backyard Wrestling.

Animal - They are stupid! Any parent who lets their kids do backyard wrestling and they think it’s funny are IDIOTS! If these parents would see the kids that I have seen in hospitals that are paralized from the neck down. The kids don’t know the moves , They don’t know how to do the moves they can get injured. in an instance. You should not mess with Pro Wrestling. If I was in the Insurance business I wouldn’t cover somebody that got hurt in a backyard wrestling event.

Word Association

Vince McMahon - Head Cheese # 1 Promoter
Hulk Hogan - to himself helps himself out
Steve Austin - helped change wrestling to the dark side
Ric Flair - 1 of the greatest performers of all time

your tag partner Hawk - besides me the only other person I would ever trust to be my partner.
and Your Self Animal - at one time the strongest person in the history of wrestling and still today one of the strongest in the wrestling business.

T.W.W.A. - Any comments to your fans

Animal - Don’t count the Road Warriors (Legion of Doom) out. We had the greatest fans in the world. We will sign autographs anywhere. We will stop for our fans to sign autographs we are not stuck up. We always take time to stop even if you see us in the airport or anywhere. You paid your money to put food on our families tables for years and this is a way of contributing to society.

The T.W.W.A. wants to Thank Animal for his Time.

Ax Demolition

This interview was conducted on March 20,2002 Demolition Ax (3 Time Tag Team Champion with his Tag Team Partner Smash).

T.W.W.A. How did you get your start in the business?

Ax - It was a family friend that was a wrestling/boxing commisioner who approached me and I didn't know much about the wrestling Business but within 6 months I was training to become a professional wrestler.

T.W.W.A. - What is your fondest memory?

Ax - It was all the traveling I did.I traveled all over the world in over 125 countries.I was traveling and getting paid for it and most people travel but they have to pay for it.

T.W.W.A. - What was the worst moment during your tenure?

Ax - While on the road if a friend or family member passed away and not getting to the services to pay my final respect. It was even harder when I was over seas and couldn't make it home for such sad occasions.By the time i would make arrangments to get home the services were over.

T.W.W.A. - What are your feelings on the world of pro wrestling today?

Ax - The wrestling business still have good athletes and performers today. The major companies are in it for the shock value and not the family value.Wrestling today is not very positive.

T.W.W.A. - What advice would you have for anyone who is considering jumping into the Sports Entertainment business?

Ax - The same outlook as when I was in the spotlight "have something to fall back on".If there wasn't so much BS in the business you would enjoy it even more. You get to travel and see alot of places and meet lots of people.

T.W.W.A. - What do you have to say to all of your fans and well wishers across the wrestling world?

Ax - I would like to thank the fans for the positive comments that they have and now that I wrestle on independant shows I get to meet alot of the wrestling fans and love to talk to them and meet them. With the major companies you don't get the chance to meet the fans and that's what I like to do when I'm at shows.

T.W.W.A. - What do you think of the WWF now compared to years ago?

Ax - The WWF today still has good quality athletes and performers but I don't know what element they are after.Years ago the wrestling business was geared at family but today I don't know what they are trying to attempt.

T.W.W.A. - What was your worst in ring injury?

Ax - There are numerous injuries that I have occured over the years.I have had broken fingers, broken ribs,Torn Bicept,Torn Chest Muscle but the most painful and the one I was out on injury the longest was a Busted Knee.I was out on injury for over 6 months.

T.W.W.A. - What's your take on young kids and this "Backyard" wrestling phenomenon?

Ax - Professional Wrestling is a very dangerous business. But backyarders have to understand that they aren't professionals and they aren't trained properly and they have to be careful.

T.W.W.A. - When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?

Ax - That I went out and I gave 120% and that I wrestled many nights when I was injured.I also hope that the fans will remember me as a good performer and Athlete. The fans always got their monies worth when I wrestled.

T.W.W.A. - Who were your favorites growing up?

Ax - Bruno Sammartino,Bobo Brazil, and crusher Lisowski.Back when i was growing up it was regional and not like it is today.

T.W.W.A. - Who was your favorite opponents while in the WWF?

Ax - There is to many to name but some of them are the Harts,Can Am Connection.I liked working with all of them.
