POSOH,

My name is Kaylene Anntionette Tucker-O'Kimosh, born on April 1, 1990. I am 11 years old and an enrolled Menominee native. I am also an Arikara Native, which is based in White Shield, North Dakota. I get this native blood from my father, Melvin "Putter" Stick-O'Kimosh. I am proud of my Arikara blood and have learned that my family there is Hereditary Chieftains. I live in Keshena, Wisconsin on the Menominee Indian Reservation, where I have lived all of my life. My family background includes these families:

  • Tucker;
  • Corn;
  • Grignon;
  • Wilber; and
  • O'Kimosh

My parents are Llona and Daniel May (step-father) and Melvin Stick. My Grandparents are Nan Waupoose (Matt Bergeon), Rodney Waupoose (Loretta LaMotte), Audrey O'Kimosh and Leroy Stick. I have two little sisters (Aimee Elizabeth Tucker & Aaliyah Marjorie Rose May) and three little brothers (Matthew Alexander Tucker, Daniel Lee May III, & Nathanyal Roderick May), who I try to be a good role model for. I help teach all of them about our people and our traditional ways. I like to spend time with my family and friends, and learning things from my elders. I also like to play all sports and go hunting, fishing, and camping.

I am most proud of my Menominee Culture and traditions, and have learned some of my native language. I plan to keep learning more Menominee as well as more of our traditions. Being Menominee to me, is the best thing any Native American could ask for. We have a beautiful reservation, and it has belonged to us since before the Europeans invaded our lands.

I have been dancing since I was 2 years old, and love going to Pow -wows. I plan to keep dancing all of my life and promoting respect for our people and our environment.

I am proud to be representing the United AmerIndian Center as T.R.A.I.L.S. Princess, and will do the best job I can representing all Native American Nations at as many Pow-wows that I can attend.

I hope to see you all at future Pow -wows in our area.
Wae wae non.
