What's Toastmasters!

You may ever heard the name "Toastmsters."   It is not a place that everybody drinks cocktail and toasts to each other.   Toastmasters is a communication and leadership program, that enable you to improve your speaking , listening, and thinking skills.  Toastmasters offers opportunities for individuals to achieve their full potential and turn their dreams into reality.  Learning and developing communication, leadership, and public speaking skills in a friendly and supportive environment.   Members draw strength from one another and take pride in helping each other grow and develop. We gain confidence in our abilities to organize our thoughts and present ourselves clearly.

In the meeting, we will have the member that give about 5 to 7 minutes speech. Then we will have the evaluator that give our speaker a constructive speech evaluation to point out the speaker’s strength and weakness. Our evaluator will also give some suggestion to our speaker for how to improve his/her next speech.

Through affiliation with Toastmasters International, UCO Toastmasters club members have access to professional education materials and resources

For 75 years, since the first Toastmasters Club was formed in October 1924, more than 4 millions people have benefited from its the communication and leadership programs.  Currently, Toastmasters International has about 175,000 members and 8800 clubs worldwide.

Toastmasters clubs are grouped into administrative units known as Districts to provide greater leadership opportunities and stronger lines of communication.  Districts are in turn subdivided into Areas, which usually comprise four to seven local Clubs.  In large Districts, several of  these areas may be assigned to a unit as Division.

UCO Toastmasters was established on the UCO campus in 1980.  We are under the administration of Area O-3, Division O, and District 16 which cover the whole state of Oklahoma.
