| Snoufferia History |
| During the Human's imprisonment, the other races of the world raced to claim what had once been Human land. Wars broke out turning what had once been allied nations into bitter enemies. Lives were lost and blood was shed. These wars lasted for almost 125 years. The gods, seeing this disregard for life decided to punish the inhabitants of Snoufferia. Benegoro, Malagoth, and Ekaf held council and came to the decision that the warring races would be made to realize the value of life by cutting the life spans of the longest living creatures in half. Elves were made to last only 500 years and Dwarves 250 years. This shortening of their life spans caused many Elves and Dwarves to collapse and die on the spot, serving the gods' intended purpose; to stop the wars and to make the inhabitants realize their mortality. With this stolen life energy, Benegoro and Malagoth each created three lieutenants. Benegoro brought forth Demitor, lieutenant of Hope and Health, Beleval, lieutenant of Faith and Protection, and Selmoran, lieutenant of Love and Life. Malagoth used his portion of the energy to create Ghanoran, lieutenant of Greed and Sloth, Vekonorak, lieutenant of Wrath and Death, and Delsonora, lieutenant of Lust and Temptation. In the coming years these demi-gods gained followers and temples began to spring up all over the planet. In the mean time, the humans were coping with their imprisonment. Feeling that the gods had abandoned them, the Humans began to worship Inferno, the false god of fire. As generations past for the comparatively short-lived Humans and the worship of Inferno was passed down, the belief became less of a rebellion and more of an actual religion. Within five generations of the imprisonment, the humans had lost all knowledge of life on the outside world. They believed that they were put on their islands by Inferno for their own protection. Demons were thought to roam the outside lands, past the protective, surrounding mists, and if one left the islands, they were thought to travel directly to the bowels of hell. At the same time, the memories of Humans by those on the outside grew faint. Humans became things of myth and legend. They were things mothers told their children about to scare them into behaving. In I.I. 1245, one Human, driven by faith in her god and curiosity of life beyond the island, escaped from her island and travelled to the main land. At 13, she disguised herself as an elf, hiding her ears under her long red hair and blended into the culture of the main landers. She learned from them what she could and discovered the old legends about the human imprisonment and their one chance for escape. Determined to free her people, Fier enlisted the help of a diverse group of adventurers. This motley crew consisted of two elves (one clean and one dirty), a militant centaur, a break-dancing pixie, a lizardman shaman trapped in a cursed sword, an eccentric young Mercury Dragon disguised as a cat, and an interdimentional traveling kender. Group in-tow, Fier performed the ritual that would release her people all over the world. That done, the mists that surrounded the human islands dissipated and they were loosed once more onto the world. This liberation, though rewarding, was also very costly. As soon as the mists rolled away from the islands, Fier and her companions dissapeared, never to be seen again. This event marked the year Y.F. 1. Over the next 300 plus years, the humans reassimilated themselves onto the world, re-learning the ways of Snoufferia. They were reaquainted with the old gods, though many still worship Inferno. But most noticably, they took back much of the lands they lost when they were imprisoned. The third month of the year Y.F. 346 gives way to our next adventure... |
