The story begins in Giza Egypt
1928 at an archeological dig. A Dr. Langford and his
daughter Catherine are there to see a new archeological
find. On their way Catherine stops and among many of
the antiquities she finds a pendant. Her father calls
her and they move on to see the new find. A huge metallic
ring unlike anything ever found before.
The time line moves on to the
present day. Catherine now an elderly woman recruits
a young archaeologist by the name of Daniel Jackson,
to help translate the writings on the Cartouche that
covered the ring when it was found.
It takes Daniel two weeks to
complete the work. He discoverers that the glyphs on
the cartouche are not writings to be translated but
instead star constellations representing an address
of a body in space
Armed with this new information
General West gives the OK to attempt to fire up the
Stargate. The attempt is successful and a probe is sent
through the gate.
With Daniel's assurance that
he can find the return address needed by the Stargate
a reconnaissance mission to the new planet is authorized,
it's
leader Jack O'Neil, a highly
decorated and experienced soldier. On their arrival
the team find themselves in the bowels of a very large
Egyptian pyramid. Seeking further information they head
for the surface where they encounter desert.
Despite his assurances Daniel
can not get the team home. The information is obtained
after the team encounter the local Abydonian people
led by Kasuf.
Returning to the Pyramid the
team find that their base camp has vanished and a large
space ship is sitting on top of the pyramid. Entering
it they are captured by Ra's body guards and sentenced
to death, their executioner is to be Daniel.
Daniel however shoots at Ra rather
than his friends and they disappear into a crowd. Now
aided by the locals a last ditch attempt to stop Ra
takes place.
Aided by Skaara and his friends
the team break into the pyramid in an attempt to stop
Ra sending a bomb through the Stargate. They succeed
in their mission and manage to transport the bomb onto
Ra's ship using his own technology. Ra and his followers
are all killed in the resulting explosion, leaving the
locals free.
The remainder of the team return
to Earth but Daniel remains with his new wife Sha're,
an unexpected gift from Kasuf, the leader of the Abydonians.
