Goauld Information

A Goa'uld requires a host body to survive, they can only live without a host for a brief period of time. As many cultures believe the Goa'uld to be evil, they take hosts by force. A Goa'uld symbiote enters the host body through the back of the neck or through the mouth and the back of the throat, then coils around the spinal cord to infiltrate the host's central nervous system.

A fight ensues between the host and the parasite for control of the body and this is almost invariably won by the Goa'uld. The battle, however, is on-going and with prior training to resist Goa'ulds, the parasite may not be in control of the body all of the time.

A host's consciousness is trapped by the Goa'uld, forced to witness the atrocities committed by their own body. The experience has been described as a waking nightmare by the few hosts who are successfully freed from the Goa'uld symbiote. It is possible for the host to be freed if the parasite is killed, however if the Goa'uld believes that it is trying to be removed, it will kill the host and move into a new body. However, if surgery is attempted and the parasite is not completely removed from the host, it will not eliminate the control the Goa'uld exerts. It is possible for a Goa'uld to leave its host without killing it, however, it would do so at great risk to its own life and as such is rarely attempted.

Goa'uld possess significant healing powers which they can apply to themselves and their host bodies. They also endow the host with greater physical strength as well as immunity to many illnesses, including radiation and bacterial organisms and viruses.

Even with this regenerative ability, in the absence of a sarcophagus, a Goa'uld must change hosts approximately every 400 years as the host body will become too old for the symbiote to maintain in good heath.

Goauld symbiote Pictures

The Goa'uld are a parasitic alien species who live by taking the body of another species as a host. Once inside the host body, the Goa'uld organism will wind itself about the spine of its host and then link its nervous system to that of the host which allows the Goa'uld to effectively take control of the host, body and mind.
A mature Goa'uld resembles a vicious snake with a tri-sectioned jaw. A Goa'uld requires a host body to survive, they can only live without a host for a brief period of time.

A host's consciousness is trapped by the Goa'uld, forced to witness the atrocities committed by their own body it is best described as a waking nightmare.

It is possible for the host to be freed if the parasite is killed, however if the Ysyalla believes that outside forces are trying to remove it from its chosen host, it will kill the host and move a new body.

In the event surgery is attempted and the parasite is not completely removed from the host it will not eliminate the control the Goa'uld holds over the host mind.

It is possible for a Goa'uld to leave its host without killing it, however doing so puts the Goa'uld at great risk to its own life and as such is only attempted under extreme circumstances.

Anyone carrying a mature Goa'uld can be identified by one of three ways:
- An entry scar on the back of the neck.
- They speak with an altered tone of voice, or in one of three variations of the Goa'uld language tongue.
- Other Goa'uld hosts can sense the presence of their own kind.
