Tamworth council has an annual turnover of more than £41m - over £540 for every man woman and child in Tamworth. Yet are still pleading poverty every chance they get - strangely they can still afford their annual banquet every Christmas but can't finish a road between Amington Fields and the town centre - but let's not go there.

On the whole, believe it or not, Tamworth doesn't seem to have a bad council. Certainly they do invite comment from their constituents even when there isn't an election immanent and their refuse handling service is excellent.

Pity that their revenues aren't a little more open to public scrutiny, but you can't have everything.
