Tamworth Football Club - no I didn't know they had one till I moved here either - are affectionately called The Lambs. They play in the Dr Martens Premier League and finished runners-up to Kettering Town last season. Tamworth F.C. go by the name of the Lambs, which they and their ground acquired when they moved to their present site at the start of the 1934/35 season.

The name comes from the Lamb Inn, which originally stood on the site. The first known use of the site was as a pig farm at the turn of the 19th century.

No, I'm not making this up!!! and before you ask no, I don't know why they aren't called the pigs!

Football is way too contentious for me; and the locals (Tammies or Sandbacks depending on who you ask) are passionate about their side, so I'm taking the cowards way out, saying no more and just pointing you at their website www.thelambs.co.uk.
