Tip!
If you want to be quite sure that your movies will work, it is better if you install all divX 3.11 Alpha, divX 5.0 and XviD codecs.
About '.bin' and '.cue' files
If you want to make bin and cue files run propertly, do as follows. Use Nero 5.5.10.20 version and go to file->create image->(your .cue file) and Burn. Then run with Power DVD and NOT with other players.

AC3 filters
Every day more and more films are ripped to support the AC3 filter protocol. The sound is realy great so take this hint! If you download a film that has good video quality but No sound, don't get rid of it unless you install and run the SC3 filters first! ;)[this pack is hosted in our website. DivX For Windows 3.11 Alpha
The DivX Audio Compressor is a re-packaged version of the DivX Audio codec that comes with the DivX 3.11 Alpha codec. This re-pack has a standalone install/uninstall packagem, and is compatible with all versions of Windows

DivX 5.x
DivX Pro 5.x

XviD Codec
XviD is still in development. Nic and Koepi were nice enough to compile the latest source code for DivX and to help develope the codec. They have made the above binary files available, complete with installers. Both are compiled differently, so they will have different performance levels (although functionally, they should be the same) - Koepi's version is said to be a little faster

Microsoft DirectX and DXMedia
Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs. This release also resolves an issue with DirectX 9.0 where some multiplayer games or MSN Messenger may not work correctly. A number of minor bugs were also resolved. [as reported on Microsoft.com]

MPEG2AVI
Converts a MPEG-1/2 video bitstream to a Video For Windows AVI file - you might want to get Danni Din's MPEG2AVI GUI for easier operation of this program. The PX3 version is modified for better performance and has more added features

FlasKMPEG
FlasK MPEG is a multipurpose conversion tool, written by Alberto Vigata. The most common use for this tool is to convert un-encrypted DVD VOB files to either MPEG-1 (compatible with Panasonic/LSX Encoders) or to an AVI file (compatible with most codecs). FlasK MPEG is an essential tool for anybody who wants to do more with their DVDs, than just play them.

Players

Crystal Player (must try it!) is advanced video player with many features not found in competitor products. Our goal is to create the best product available for you to watch your home video.

The Playa
The Playa is sort of the "official" DivX player, made by the people at Project Mayo, the same people behind the new official DivX codec. The Playa is being built with DivX;-) users in mind. Because of the feedback from the community, features like progressive download, and the dreaded broken avi file work when using "The Playa". Previously it took separate tools just to accomplish this and there was no progressive download that existed for avi files on Windows. Look at the Docs section for feature details. Includes the latest version of the DivX 4.x Codec.

BS Player
BSplayer is windows player for playing back avi/asf/mpeg video files. It can also display subtitles. Also available are different skins for this player.

MicroDVD
MicroDVD is designed to play ripped DVD movies from CD or HDD as close to the original as possible, including as many features of the original DVD as possible and giving as much comfort as possible compared to original DVD viewing.

Vplayer
Vplayer is a DivX player with all the usual features, plus a lot more. Supports subtitles (playback and editing), playlists, and skins (example skin - more skins on the official page). Available in English, Polish, Magyar and German. Highly recommended.

Smooth Player
AVI player designed chiefly for the low-end machines (will default to a lower resolution when run in full screen). Some of us want to watch movies without having to buy the fastest machine in the market.

Xvid;)
It is designed for watching movies on PC computer, saved in diffrent formats of Windows system, e.g. avi, mpeg, asf. Excellent for playing movie files, compressed with DivX codecs. These codecs guarantee high fidelity of picture, and small size of place needed for keeping movies in this format. That's why compressing DVD movies to DivX format, often seven-times smaller size of regular CD-R disc, is so popular today.

Xtream player
Xtream player can stream DivX as well as other video formats over HTTP. Play a movie or seek through a movie and download it simultanously. Very useful with a video HTTP server. The interface is completely skinnable. Please note that this is a general multimedia player for playing back AVI files. Different AVI files may be encoded with different "codecs" (compressors and decompressors ; COders and DECoders), so by having an AVI player does mean you can play every single AVI file in the world (you'll need to separately download and install the codec for the AVI file as well).

Cutting and Joining Tools

Advanced AVI Splitter
Advanced AVI Splitter allows you to extract fragments from existing movie files and save them as new movies.

ASFCu
ASFCut is a command line utility for cutting out fragments, joining, modifying and reparing ASF files. ASFCut can be applied for any ASF files that is not only those with ASF extension but also those with WMV and WMA extensions.

AVIChop
Very small but useful program for chopping up AVI files - doesn't always work, problems with windows XP.

AVI Devil
This program enables the user to join a bunch AVI-Files to one big movie using Virtual Dub.

AVI Joiner
AVI Joiner is an easy-to-use tool to join multiple AVI files into one larger AVI file. AVI Joiner designed to join AVI files without recompression that allows you to join AVI files quickly and without reducing quality. But only files with identical parameters (such as frame size, frame rate, video codec) can be joined.
